General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
The objective of the study programme is to prepare automobile technical maintenance specialists with analytical thinking who:
• Have professional knowledge and understanding enabling them to solve the challenges of land transport engineering study area, analyse engineering problems and select proper methods for their solution, evaluate the impact of engineering solutions to society and the environment, comply with professional ethics and engineering activity standards;
• Have knowledge about the peculiarities of land transport elements, internal combustion engines, electrical and hybrid technologies, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, vehicles and their technical maintenance;
• Are able to select engineering solutions and means as well as technological equipment, necessary for designing, organization, control and performance of vehicle and its unit diagnostics, maintenance and repair technological process according to the defined requirements;
• Are erudite persons, able to think creatively and critically, and maintain their professional competence throughout their lives.
Learning outcomes:
Knowledge and understanding (A)
A1 Know the general physical and chemical processes and phenomena of natural sciences, the laws of mathematics, that justify the fundamental solutions of land transport engineering.
A2 Know the main concepts of land transport engineering study area and understand their content in practice.
A3 Know the problems related to land transport engineering in the wider context of other sciences.
Engineering Analysis (B)
B1 Be able to analyze the problems of land transport engineering and solve them creatively applying analytical and modeling methods.
Engineering design (C)
C1 Be able to apply engineering knowledge and understanding in the formulation and performance of design tasks for various automotive systems and their components according to defined requirements.
C2 Be able to combine various design methodologies to solve technological process problems.

D1 Be able to choose appropriate information search methods, solving land transport engineering problems, combining elements of theory and practice.

Distinctive features of a study programme:
This study programme is oriented towards practical activities with its curriculum being based on the real working environment needs.
Studies are implemented in a concentrated and intensive way, practical skills are formed in modern labs, such as the modern KTK Bosch training center, KTK Automobile service JSC “Tobis” wheel repair laboratory, modern “Volkswagen” automobile structure laboratory, KTK Racing Division team also transport and sport car preparation and maintenance companies with up-to-date technologies, such as Kaunas sport club “Juta Racing”.

Graduates who have completed a Bachelor's degree in Automotive Transport Engineering will be able to work in companies that perform repair and maintenance services for cars, cargo vehicles and sports cars, in their departments and other companies that require transport engineering engineers and technicians; also manage and organize activity for service station, vehicle inspection center, automotive transport company or department.
Access to further study:
Graduates have access to the second cycle studies (Master’s degree) at university. If they choose this study programme, students have the opportunity to study under the Erasmus + student mobility programme in higher education institutions in Austria, Check Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Germany, Hungary, Malta, Portugal and Turkey, as well as to perform Erasmus+ training in foreign companies.
