General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
The aim of the study programme Wellness and Beauty Business is to prepare a qualified manager who is socially and economically responsible, oriented to practical activity, able to create and manage responsibly the business of wellness and beauty services individually and in a team in the changing national and international environment.
Learning outcomes:
1. Knowledge of the terminology, meaning and activities of wellness and beauty service; understanding of the importance of requirements and their application in ensuring the provision of safe and quality wellness and beauty services.
2. Understanding of the processes of the business of wellness and beauty service and the ability to organise the provision and sales of wellness and beauty services in the national and international market successfully.
3. Ability to critically evaluate and apply the results of applied market and service quality research in the successful development of wellness and beauty business.
4. Ability to form a package of wellness services individually and in a team based on market tendencies and needs and to prepare the marketing strategy for wellness and beauty services.
5. Ability to create an effective communicative environment in the organisation and beyond its borders and to develop the relations with clients in the wellness and beauty services market with due regard to cultural differences.
6. Faculty to manage the business of wellness and beauty services in cooperation with the specialists of other spheres by means of electronic information systems in a responsible and effective manner.
7. Ability to critically analyse and evaluate the practical experience in professional activities, continuously learn, teach and consult the participants in the business of wellness and beauty services.
Activities of teaching and learning:
(The study programme) is oriented to the development of generic and specialist competences and creativity: lectures, seminars, discussions, individual and group projects, practice, case studies, public presentation and defense of projects, mind-maps, problem - solving reading, writing articles, information search and systematizing, etc.
Methods of student achievement assessment:
The assessment of the learning outcomes of the study programme is carried out during the semester and the examination session applying a cumulative assessment system. During the semester, the learning outcomes are assessed by means of interim assignments: tests, individual and group projects, case studies, information search and systematizing, discussions, essays, independent creative tasks, seminars, term papers, practice reports, examinations, final projects and/or qualifying exams.

The graduates of the study programme will be able to work in the wellness and beauty service, recreation and tourism sector: the companies implementing recreational and sport activities, sanatoriums, treatment institutions, SPA hotels and other accommodation companies, travel agencies, SPA and beauty centers, entertainment services providing companies, etc.; to establish a wellness and beauty service enterprise and successfully manage its activities creating innovative wellness products with the added value. The graduates will be capable to perform the duties of an administrator, a manager of various departments and a director of a company.
