General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
To train professional bachelors of English, language service professionals able to function effectively and provide professional foreign language services in the fields of business communication, business documentation and the production and translation of information sources.
Learning outcomes:
Graduates of the English for International Communication study programme will have strong English language skills and the basics of a second foreign language, intercultural communication and translation skills, knowledge of business processes and business communication, and will be able to get a job in sales, service delivery and customer service in national and international companies, and in their professional life will be able to:
Graduates of the EfIC study programme will have strong English language skills and the basics of a second foreign language, as well as intercultural communication and translation skills, knowledge of business processes and business communication. They will be employable in language service delivery and customer service roles in national and international companies and will be able to use business terminology correctly in English in their practical work. They will have knowledge of the countries of the languages studied and their socio-cultural contexts, the underlying business processes, relationships, and patterns of the communication process and to apply this knowledge to the provision of foreign language services. They will be able to: identify and solve a problem in their professional field; conduct applied language research in the field of international business communication; use English (C1 level) effectively as a second foreign language (A2/B1 level) in written and oral communication in a wide range of professional contexts; understand, reference, translate, produce and edit business texts in English in a variety of genres; identify and analyse linguistic phenomena related to the preparation of company documentation and the organisation of internal and external communication in English; apply modern information technologies and specialised applications effectively to tasks in their field of activity; communicate with people in their professional field; work constructively in a team; communicate and cooperate in intercultural situations; independently develop life and entrepreneurial competences enabling them to adapt flexibly to the rapidly changing market conditions.
Activities of teaching and learning:
Vilnius Business College creates a distinctive learning and teaching environment and implements innovative teaching methods. The recently implemented project-based teaching method aims to develop students’ skills such as leadership, entrepreneurship, teamwork, time planning and finance management, etc.
A great deal of learning activities is organized using College virtual learning environment, new ICT technologies, and social media. Students have lectures and seminars in psychology, training sessions in teamwork, effective work and study methods as well as time planning conducted by professional lecturers and experienced practitioners. Students get acquainted with the study process, College values, opportunities for international studies and internships.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
To evaluate achievement of learning outcomes, proportional criterion-cumulative assessment (cumulative assessment) system is applied, which is defined in Study Regulations. This document, as well all other documents related to the study process, are published on the College website https://www.kolegija.lt/en/for-students/study-organisation.
A 10-grade assessment system is applied, which is defined in the College study achievement evaluation order. Evaluation criteria are selected according to the study programme and subject learning outcomes and peculiarities of the subject. Cumulative grade structure is given in each module description and is presented to students during first lectures.
Students’ achievement assessment methods, such as test, exam, project work presentations, reflections, reports, enable students to understand their weaknesses and strengths, and will help to evaluate their level of achievement.

To deepen and strengthen their knowledge and skills in IT applications, entrepreneurship, students have an opportunty to choose subjects from all the study programmes organized by the College: Programming and Internet Technologies, Game Development, Business Management and Marketing, Logistics Business, Tourism and Events and others.
Distinctive features of the study programme:
Students are offered a variety of second foreign language options: German, Spanish, Swedish, Russian.
Study programme content and study methods are in alignment with the corresponding level of international exams requirements for non-English speakers: Cambridge English: Advanced (C1 level according to CEFR), Business English Certificate (BEC) and London Chamber of Commerce and Industry International Qualifications in English for Business.
During the study period students have an opportunity to prepare for and pass these exams.
Access to professional activity or further study:
Access to professional activity:
The first Internship in Business Communication is conducted at the College and will also include visits to companies and observation of their work. The second year Internship takes place in a company, practical assignments are aligned with the student, the company and the College. The aim of the third year Final Internship is to strengthen and develop students’ professional skills in a particular business situation. During this Internship students also collect data related to their Final Thesis/Project topic, aims and object.
Access to further study:
Graduates of the English for International Communication study programme will be able to apply for further Master studies in English Philology, Communication study fields at universities in Lithuania and abroad.
