Summary of the Profile

General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
On completion of the 1stcycle studies in the field of economics, a graduate may work in enterprises, organizations and institutions (public, private or non-governmental) as an economist, manager, accountant, financier, administration specialist in the country and abroad. He is also prepared to engage in individual activities. A graduate of this field uses capacities necessary for the profession of economist in the broad sense in business organizations, public and municipal institutions, government and municipal administration units, institutions implementing economic and social policy in the environment of economic entities. A graduate has basic theoretical knowledge in the fundamentals of economics and abilities to use economic analysis instruments in investigating processes taking place in modern economy. He may precisely formulate economic issues and solve them working individually and in a team environment. He understands changes occurring in activities of enterprises and financial institutions, both, at the household and any public administration level.
He is prepared to continue studies in economics according to the graduate study programme.
A graduate has comprehensive knowledge in the field of economics and associated disciplines (finance, reporting, management, law), also knows professional terminology in the Lithuanian language. He uses knowledge acquired during studies by formulating practical conclusions and analysing different economic issues. He has comprehensive knowledge and abilities in the field of finance and financial statements of any type enterprises, institutions and organizations. He may independently draw up financial statements and make an analysis thereof. He has abilities to make an analysis of economic activity, evaluation of efficiency of investment projects, also to choose an optimal direction of investment into fixed assets and securities. He may recognize, diagnose and solve problems arising while managing financial, human and material resources. This enables him to move freely in the European social and economic space.
Learning outcomes:
1. Has basic knowledge in the field of economics and associated sciences, knows the basic economic categories, as well as economic research methods, instruments and the main literature,
2. Applies microeconomic and macroeconomic categories, is able to describe them, also has knowledge of their interdependence,
3. Has knowledge on modern world management models and economic systems, also understands relationships between state and market,
4. Has knowledge of the main rules on economic activities in the actual field and regulation field,
5. Has basic knowledge of goals and measures of the economic policy, particularly macroeconomic and fiscal, money, currency exchange, economic growth and job creation policy,
6. Has knowledge on the main types and forms of economic activity development and mechanisms thereof,
7. Has knowledge on institutions and organizations operating at the national and international level,
8. Is able to interpret interdependence of the main economic categories,
9. Sees, observes and is able to ground logically and to interpret economic phenomena,
10. Collects, processes economic information and uses the main theoretical knowledge for the analysis of economic phenomena, causes and consequences thereof,
11. Is able to forecast specific economic processes and phenomena,
12. Uses the acquired knowledge for the description of social-economic correlations,
13. Is able to use knowledge in practice solving simple microeconomic and macroeconomic problems, and forming his opinion on economic and social issues,

15. Is distinguished for ability to analyse and to forecast behaviour of economic entities and economic effects,
16. May manage limited economic resources in a rational way,
17. Sees and is able to formulate sophisticated economic issues taking into regard a number of social and economic conditions,

19. Is distinguished for abilities to analyse and to forecast the level of selected economic values and standards, and dynamics thereof,
20. Tries to solve problems with the help of respective methods and instruments in the field of economic theory,

22. Is able to implement simple research tasks and formulate conclusions based on research,
23. Successfully communicates with specialists in his own field using modern economic meta-language,

41. Is prepared to carry out research in the field of economic and social problems and look for solutions of problems independently,
42. Is prepared to communicate with environment at work and outside work, also to share his knowledge using different information provision instruments,
43. Is prepared to move flexibly in the labour market and understands the need for mobility.
Activities of teaching and learning:
Innovative teaching and learning methods are applied in lectures and practical training, e.g. e-learning. Independent student-centred work based on tasks, team work, where problem and critical thinking becomes manifest. Students are provided with an educational environment where they have a possibility to control their study process, to reflect on activity, to foster creativity and innovation while participating in research activities. The programme is aimed at active participation of students in the study process: during lectures it is sought to create a discussion environment; during practical training and while writing a diploma paper the student is fostered to formulate a thesis and conclusions; a dialog between the teacher and the student is sought in order to avoid a monolog teaching method.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
An assessment of the learning outcomes is a part of the study process. It consists of the assessment of practical training and the assessment of theoretical knowledge during an examination. An assessment of the learning outcomes of a subject takes place during the whole semester and at the time of the examination session. By applying accumulation assessment, learning outcomes are evaluated through interim assessments. An interim assessment is made with consideration to students’ activeness during training, implemented task, or knowledge and abilities acquired after completing partial studies of a particular subject (colloquiums, tests, practical works, paperwork, etc.). Before taking an examination a student has to pass a credit test in practical training. During an examination session, all knowledge and abilities acquired by the student are assessed. The student’s knowledge and abilities are assessed during the examination session only when he/she has fulfilled the requirements and tasks prescribed for the interim assessment in the description of a subject. The student’s knowledge and abilities are assessed during an examination on a 2 -5 point scale. The final grade consists of the grades of interim assessments, grades of examinations and practical training.

The preparation and defence of the bacherol’s final paper constitutes 13 ECTS credits:
Graduation thesis seminar, The diploma seminar (4, 5, 6 semester)

Distinctive features of a study programme:
The study programme is focused on boosting entrepreneurship in modern economic, the development of professional special competences, the development of broad general abilities, ethnic and value attitudes, provision with competences necessary for the today’s economics based on knowledge conveyance and acceptance, its analysis, critical assessment, and search for problem solutions.
The study programme is implemented in the foreign language - Polish.

The acquired qualification grants the right to a graduate of the economic programme to engage in independent economic activity, to work in the field of company management, different state and non-state enterprises, both in the domestic and international market.
Access to further study:
On completion of the programme the graduates will be able to continue study in master degree studies, in the area of social sciences, in the field of economic science.
