Summary of the Profile

Objective(s) of a study programme:
The objective of the study programme „Transport Electrical Systems Engineering” is to train highly qualified specialists who are able to work efficiently in the field of transport electrical systems
Learning outcomes:
Know general physical processes and phenomena of natural sciences that explain the natural and technological environment processes, and mathematics patterns and laws that are necessary to understand the fundamental basics of land transport electrical systems engineering.
Manage to create schema of multi-purpose typical devices and calculate their parameters.
Have basic transport engineering knowledge about machine construction, their operation and installation principles, construction and exploitation materials, which are important in practice.
Know the problem solutions of relevant engineering areas.
Know how to find necessary information applying IT, databases, software and other scientific and engineering sources of information.
Manage to perform tests necessary for land transport engineering problem solution, process their data and provide practical conclusions of the results.
Have skills to work with technological equipment used in transport electrical engineering.
Be able to make engineering decisions performing and controlling technological process of vehicle engine and control systems equipment diagnostics and maintenance.
Understand the principles of engineering activity organization, know the main requirements for environment protection, work safety and fire prevention.
Understand business as a system and evaluate business environment in electrical sector and company‘s (department‘s) possibilities
Develop company‘s (department‘s) activity process in a market economy and manage the production process efficiency.
Be able to solve engineering tasks individually and in multiprofile group (team).
Be able to communicate in correct Lithuanian language and at least one foreign language to engineering community and general public.
Understand the impact of engineering solutions to the public and environment, comply with professional ethics and standards of engineering, and understand the responsibility of engineering activity results.
Be able to plan and organize transport electrical systems equipment exploitation and maintenance procedures.
Be able to apply knowledge and understanding performing the analysis of engineering tasks and selecting proper methods, experimental, laboratory and production equipment for their solution.
Be able to organize and carry out installation and exploitation of transport electrical systems according to the process specifics.
Be able to plan the recognition to use process of the installed transport electrical systems.
Activities of teaching and learning:
Student - oriented teaching applying innovative teaching and learning methods.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
Learning achievements assessment is carried out during the semester and examination session. Cumulative assessment system is applied and learning achievements are assessed by interim assessments. Examination or course paper presentation is applied during examination session. Ten grade scale system is applied. Final grade consists of interim and examination grades. Final grade is calculated according the proportions foreseen in the subject description.

Scope of core and compulsory subjects is 135 credits. Physics, Mathematics, Information Technologies, Engineering Graphics, Computer-Aided Drawing, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Materials Science, Measurements and Fundamentals of Technical Diagnostics, Signals and Circuits, Vehicle Mechanics, Microprocessors, Power Electronics Devices, Electric Vehicles, Fundamentals of Automatics, Electric Drives, Power Supply Systems, Human Safety and Ecology, Business Economics and Management. Practices: Electrical and Electronic Measurement, Electrical Installation, Technological, Final.
