General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
Prepare a specialist, able to apply characteristic for modern business management technological and information processes of transport and logistics business development in the professional activity; possessing key competences, allowing the adaptability to the changing transport and logistics business environment conditions and labour market requirements as well as to educate wide creative and critical thinking, a positive approach towards the professional and personal development through lifelong learning.
Learning outcomes:
1.1. Is able to describe economic social phenomena, explain the main theories of management and economic sciences and analyse the transport and logistics business system operation mechanism.
1.2. Is aware of the importance of information and modern technologies in the transport and logistics business and changes in the global market, ensuring a long enterprise life period.
2.1. Applies innovative methods of data and information collection, processing and evaluation, analysing the domestic and international business environment, solving cross-cutting problems of transport and logistics activities.
3.1. Analyses the international transport and logistics market, forecasts the demand for transport forwarding services and establishes plans for enterprise efficient, value-added activities.
3.2. Identifies the legal acts, regulating transport and logistics business, and apply them in the activity of enterprises.
3.3. Identifies the need for resources for the transport and logistics enterprise technological process management.
3.4. Organises transport and logistics processes, applying the latest technological, management and marketing solutions and methods, ensuring the quality of the enterprise's activities.
3.5. Designs optimum freight and passenger transportation routes, using modern transport expeditionary service tools.
3.6 Evaluates the opportunities of the transport business and logistics development in international markets.
4.1. Is able to express own thoughts fluently and in an impressive appeal in the Lithuanian and foreign languages orally and in writing, to communicate effectively in the professional and intercultural environment.
4.2. Is able to communicate and cooperate, exchange information and provide it to specialists in a range of fields and representatives of society groups.
5.1. Is able to coordinate enterprise and personal interests, be creative and responsible for making decisions, learns in an independent and constant manner.
5.2. Is able to be a leader, creating significant positive changes, motivating the team to achieve common aims for enhancement of the enterprise value.
5.3. Is able to analyse and critically evaluate the selected operational strategies, set aims, formulate objectives and foresee the most effective ways and means to implement them.
Activities of teaching and learning:
Innovative, active teaching and learning methods, student- centred self-study, based on practical tasks, group work, including very important problem-based and critical thinking are applied. In the study programme it is aimed at the active students’ participation in the study process, it is targeted to create the active educational environment, using various methods: interactive lectures, practical work, discussions, solution of problem-based situations, analysis of references and multiple sources, projects development, work with an enterprise representative/ mentor, etc.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
Learning outcomes are evaluated by the levels of the study achievements and by the 10-grade-criterion assessment system, following Utena UAS Order for the Assessment of Learning Outcomes, 2017. The subjects studied are accomplished either by the examination or by the project work, depending on the intended learning outcomes of the study programme. Final evaluation of the subject is the accumulative point. The students’ achievements’ assessment formula is presented in the descriptors of the subjects. During the first lecture of every course, the lecturer introduces the students to the subject assessment.

Distinctive features of a study programme:
The study programme is implemented not only through innovative teaching/learning methods, but simultaneously responding quickly to the changes in the domestic and international transport and logistics markets. The application of new information transport management technologies allows students’ orientation towards the self-employment, based on practical tasks, for which performance problematic and critical thinking is essential. A part of the students’ competences will be acquired by working with an enterprise representative/mentor.

Transport and Logistics Business study programme graduates:
-Can work as managers in transport and logistics enterprises and their departments as well as transport service sales specialists;
-Can create and manage their own transport, logistics or forwarding enterprises.

Access to further study:
Graduates may continue their studies for acquiring Bachelor’s Degree at a university. Having accomplished bridging studies or upon meeting other requirements, set by the accepting higher education institution, they will possess the right to enter the second cycle graduate studies and the third cycle post-graduate studies.
