General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
The study programme seeks to provide undergraduates with comprehensive knowledge of digital culture theory and practical functioning of new media in the era of communication as well as skills to solve various digital culture and philosophy related problems, gather, collect and interpret data of public communication and apply their analysis in professional activities like a digital culture analyst in the areas of public relations, advertising, creative media industries and mass media.
Learning outcomes:
Knowledge and Its Application:
A1 Students acquire up-to-date knowledge in the field of classical and contemporary philosophy, are able to apply them in digital culture analysis.
A2 Acquire up-to-date knowledge in the field of philosophical analysis, are able to use them by digital culture analysis.
A3 Students gain knowledge and skills that enable to explore and understand the context and other subjects of new media philosophy.
A4 The graduate has specialised knowledge about cultural effects of different media and understands the link with general history of digital culture.
A5 Knows the main area of new media research or professional activities and understands the link with theoretical new media cognition.
Research Skills:
B1 The student acquires the ability to collect and interpret data related with digital culture philosophy, solve problems of new media impact to the culture.
B2 The graduate gains the ability to integrate the knowledge of different fields, formulate and apply decisions from incomplete information.
B3 The graduate gains the ability to formulate, argue and solve problems related with the research and professional activity of new media philosophy.

C1 The graduate gains the ability to validate the practical professional and academic results of the study of new media and philosophy by research.

E4 The graduate is able to reflect on the knowledge and experience gained as well as foresee further trends of personal professional improvement.
Activities of teaching and learning:
Materials of study modules are gained both by activities in face-to face classes, tutorials, seminars and individual work. Activities during face-to-faces meetings include lectures, group research, team working, seminars and practical work. Individual work is comprised by study of theoretical material, preparation for lectures, group research and practical work, midterms and examinations. It also includes preparation of homework, projects and other activities.
Modern teaching and learning methods are applied: problem based learning, design thinking, case method, evidence based learning, projects with real organizations, etc.
The study programme is accomplished by the final degree project.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
Knowledge, abilities and skills, that the student will acquire during the course of the programme, are graded and registered to databases twice: during the evaluation of the student‘s independent work (positive or negative grade) and during the examination session (grade in ten-point scale). Adequate study result assessment is applied: tests, essays, group-work, projects with presentations, case analysis, etc.
The final degree project is defended in the public session of the studies’ branch qualification committee.

The study programme is of an interdisciplinary nature and provides possibilities for students to gain and attain social and personal skills in addition to knowledge and its practical application. The study programme is also provided using virtual learning model thus enabling students who are in other remote areas in Lithuania and worldwide to get access to the study programme.

The undergraduate can seek employment as a digital culture specialist in companies, governmental and public institutions, culture and media related industries or individual companies in the areas related to media analysis and development.
