Summary of the Profile

General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
To train professional batchelors of office administration capable to plan, organize, monitor office work of the enterprise, institution or department, to manage information and documents, to administrate staff of the enterprise, institution ar department, to develop office image.
Learning outcomes:
Graduates will be able to :
1. To help plan and organize work of the enterprise,
institution, department.
2. To monitor work of the enterprise, institution, department.
3. To coordinate the head’s/manager‘s agenda and create favorable working conditions for him/her.
4. To manage internal and external information flows.
5. To prepare and manage documents of the company, institution, department.
6. To use computer information systems and information communication technologies.
7. To prepare and manage staff documents.
8. To organize staff information management and record keeping.
9. To perform analysis of staff information.
10. To develop office image.
11. To administer general relations.
12. Organize work with clients.
Activities of teaching and learning:
When implementing the study programme the aims are efficiency of desired results and reliability of students‘ performance. The feedback is constantly maintained with students. Teachers and students discuss the results of intermediate and final accounts, analyze the reasons why students have mastered unsufficiently the material studied. In the study process involving lectures, seminars, discussions, group work, practical tasks, situation analysis and case studies, project development, teamwork, role-play, preparation and presentation of self-study are used. Cooperation among the teachers and students takes place constantly, learning outcomes, study and assessment methods of the subjects are adjusted and improved. Not only students but also teachers receive feedback: surveys about the quality of teaching, practices at college and enterprises are carried out.
Student- centered involving lectures, self-study, practical work assignments are relevant stimulating students' interest and involvement in their solution. Emphasis is placed on the relationship between the subject taught and future profession. Teaching and learning methods encourage students to become actively involved in the studies, develop critical thinking, autonomy, proactiveness and creativity. Conditions to have consultations are created, to apply theoretical knowledge into practice not only during professional training practices, but also going to educational tours, exchange programs abroad, participating in research activities, conferences, performing tasks in MOODLE environment.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
The level of achievement of learning outcomes of every subject ( module) studied is assessed by grades. The main assessment method of learning outcomes of subject (module) is cumulative assessment. Particular learning outcomes of the subject (module) in the study programe are assesssed by the components of cumulative assessment. The final grade consists of the components of cumulative assessment indicated in the description of the subject (module): intermediate written and oral accounts, performnce of practical tasks, project work, performance and presentation of self-study, examination. Percentage of the components of cumulative assessment and assessment criteria are provided in the description of the subject (module). At the beginning of the study, every teacher presents assessment procedure to students, discusses learning outcomes, sets the performance levels of tasks and provides acceptable performance levels.
The student's knowledge and skills during examination period are assessed only when he/she has fulfilled assessment requirements set in the description of the subject (module) during the semester. Student‘s knowledge and skills are assessed by grades from 1 to 10.
Framework:
Study subjects (modules), practical training:
1. General subjects of college studies - 15 credits (Social research methodology, Foreign language I, Foreign language II).
2. Part of study field–135 credits, consisting of: study field subjects – 96 cr. (Applied mathematics, Information technology, Databases and information systems, Human safety, General statistics, Management, Applied economics, Administrative and labor law, Service marketing and market research, Document management, Accounting and finance, Professional ethics and etiquette, Language culture and rhetoric, Module: Organization of international relations, Project management basics, Public administration, Business communication, Communication psychology, Human resource management); professional training practices - 30 cr. ( Information technology (6 cr.), Speciality skills practice in ,,Simulith" firm (6 cr.), Speciality skills practice in enterprises (6 cr.), Final practice (12 cr.); preparation of final thesis - 9 cr .;
3.Alternative elective subjects for deeper specialization in the same field - 21 cr. ( information technology subjects: Document preparation systems, Modern advertising techniques, Internet technologies (6 cr.), subjects for working environment creation: Business ethics and etiquette, Management of communication office equipment, Management psychology (6 cr.), management field subjects: Innovation management, Marketing research, Strategic management (6 cr.), field subjects of office activities: Accounting of individual enterprises, Audit, Controlling (3 cr.); optional subjects - 9 cr.

Optional courses:
9 credits are allocated for student‘s optional courses. Students of Office administration study programme can choose optional courses from three groups : I gr. - courses allocated for improvement of students' skills to communicate in foreign languages. II gr. - general subjects of college studies allocated for development of information management, general competences and intercultural training. III gr. - study field subjects group allocated to deepen knowledge of professional competences.
Selection takes place in stages. Optional courses selection procedure is published http://www.marko.lt/. Also, students can choose optional courses in other Lithuanian higher institutions.
Distinctive features of a study programme:
Students have excellent opportunities to develop general competences necessary for successful office administrator work: communication and collaboration, decision-making, knowing Lithuanian and foreign languages, use of information technologies, teamwork skills, proactiveness and desire to develop, ethics and etiquette standards compliance. Studying is not based on a quantitative accumulation of knowledge, but on sense perception, relationship of subjects to reality, therefore the most important criteria of administrator‘s professionalism are developed: leadership and control, problem solving, management of different project, team building, ability to speak on the manager‘s behalf not only at company presentations, meetings and conferences but also beyond its borders, as well as the ability to plan, prepare speeches.
Students of the study programme have the possibility to learn consistently and develop skills in two foreign languages: first foreign language, second foreign language, first profesional foreign language and second professional foreign language. Professional foreign languages are studied in the module of International Relations Organization . 24 credits are allocated for foreign language teaching (learning) in the programme.
To deepen professional knowledge students can choose one alternative elective subject from 4 alternative elective subject groups .
On request all students have the opportunity to participate in internships and various exchange programs abroad.

Upon successful completion of their studies graduates will be prepared to work in state government and administration institutions, various business, scientific, educational and cultural institutions as administrators of the enterprise, institution, department, office administrators, manager assistant, referents, employees of personnel department.
Well-established graduates of this study programme, possessing ambitions and purpose, have the opportunity to work as middle level management specialists: personnel management, marketing, sales, etc.
The programme of office administration is a promising field of work and an attractive career opportunity.

Graduates of this study programe have the opportunity to continue their studies at Master studies at Marijampole college as well. Graduates can continue their studies in the second cycle (Master’s studies) of higher education institutions in Lithuania and abroad. Graduates of this study programe have the opportunity to continue their studies at Master’s studies of KTU that are carried at Marijampole college as well delivering lectures by teachers of KTU.
