Summary of the Profile

Objective(s) of a study programme: To prepare specialists of finance area to work in banks and other institutions providing financial services, who would be able to carry out economic and financial assessment of economic entities, to make decisions independently when providing banking, investment and other services of financial mediation. Learning outcomes: After graduating from the studies, a person will be able: 1. to apply in the professional activity the principles of organizing finance system and its operation, directives of the European Union, normative acts of the Republic of Lithuania, which regulate national system of finance, activity of banks and other finance institutions; 2. to assess the business environment of finance institutions on the approach of macroeconomics and to ensure a suitable process of managing services of finance institutions; 3. to prepare financial, tax and statistical accounts to both internal and external consumers; 4. to apply methods of managing property and non-property resources when analyzing processes of financial activity of business entities; 5. to systematize and analyze the data on the activity of business entities when implementing the strategy of their development; 6. to apply knowledge of bank products when forming a bank product basket, which corresponds to the needs of a customer and when implementing its constant monitoring; 7. to apply modern methods of communication and sales, ensuring personal results and the results of the activity of finance institution; 8. to carry out an independent assessment of economic viability of different projects; 9. to apply the main methods of assessing customer creditworthiness and risk when providing with a bank credit; 10. to form and manage a portfolio of investment products, which corresponds to needs and possibilities of a customer; 11. to manage an investment process, through assessment of the risk and the expected income of different means of investment and a formed investment portfolio; 12. to choose methods of international payment when funding international business operations of business entities; 13. to constantly assess one’s professional activity, knowledge and experience, to foresee trends of self-expression and self-development and to develop one’s professionalism when acting in a changing business environment. Activities of teaching and learning: Analysis of practical situations and case studies, project work, concept and mind mapping, service organisation processes‘ simulation, task solution, document analysis, problem teaching, practice in the workplace, demonstration and analysis of practical examples, real problem solving in project activities, professional internships, preparation of final thesis, etc. Methods of assessment of learning achievements: Cumulative assessment and a ten-point assessment system are applied. When applying cumulative assessment the learning outcomes are evaluated by interim assignments. Course unit programmes foresee certain structural elements of assessment, their weight in the final assessment, content, criteria and requirements for certain tasks of assessment. Studies of each course unit end with an examination. In the Final Thesis students demonstrate the achieved learning outcomes of Finance and Investment Management study programme. Framework: Course units, practice: Course Units of the Study Field: Professional Foreign Language, Basics of Banking, Ekonomy, Management, Finance, Bank products, Marekting, Basics of Investment, Finance Accounting, Insurance, International Banking Operations and Trade Financing, Sales Management, Investment Fund Management Strategies, Applied Mathematics and Statistics, Social Research Methodology, Professional Foreign Language, Credit Systems in Banks, Bank Risks and their Management, Financial Analysis, Management of Business Investments , Finance Management, International Finance, Personal Banking, Effective Customer Service, Financial Information Processing Systems. Teaching and Final practices of professional activity are done. Optional course units correspond to the values of the University and aim at developing exceptional competences of a student in order to form a unified portrait of a student. 4 competences of a student are distinguished: Creativity and Entrepreneurship, Digital Communication, Linguistic Communication, Personal Development and Career Management. Specialisations: -. Access to professional activity: Graduates from the Finance and Investment Management Study Programme and awarded professional bachelor in the group of Business and Public Management study field are able work as a finance specialist in any business or public sector organisation, to work as customer services and investment specialists, personal bankers, insurance specialists, personal managers of business and private clients at banks or insurance and investment companies, finance and insurance broker entities, financial consulting companies and other. Access to further studies: Studies can be continued in Lithuanian and foreign higher schools, implementing II cycle study programmes in the group of Business and Public Management study field. Graduates, aiming at studying in the second cycle studies of accounting field must conform to the requirements pre-set by the higher school and in the descriptor of the group of study field or fields, have knowledge and abilities necessary for studies in accordance with the programmes of a certain field.
