General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:

The main aim of the Economics and Data Analytics programme is to develop essential knowledge and skills in economics; to acquire the ability to perform a complex analysis and modelling of economic processes at micro and macro levels; to build skills to manage economic processes in a dynamic environment; to gain professional competences in key areas such as managerial economics, financial and risk management, economic analysis, economic forecasting; as well as to develop social competences to effectively communicate and work in a team. The programme includes courses on computer science and software development, data mining and analysis for business intelligence. The graduates are aimed to develop certain competences on how to develop analytical software based tools for data processing and analysis.

Learning outcomes:
Upon successful completion of Economics and Data Analytics programme students are able to:
- define the main economic theories and models, to apply them to practical issues;
- perform quantitative and qualitative research using tools appropriate for the discipline;
- explain the link between economic theory and practice on both micro- and macroeconomic level;
- explain and to analyse the economic policy as well as the effect of institutional factors on individuals, companies and other entities;
- to employ analytical IT-based tools and software for economics problem solving and/or decision making.

IT courses: Computer Programming, Data Mining for Business Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Quantitative Decision Making.

Distinctive features of a study programme:
Students of Economics and Data Analytics programme can participate in exchange programs and they have an ability to choose from up to 40 partner universities in Europe, Asia, North America and Australia. While studying in this programme, students can apply for a double degree program at BI Norwegian Business School (Norway) or other university abroad. As a part of the program, students are granted a possibility to conduct an international internship abroad.

After graduating from this program students have knowledge and practical skills to develop successful careers as analysts, project managers, business consultants or upper level business managers in the areas of finance, banking, audit, insurance or other private or public organizations in many industries, national and international corporations. The acquired seto f IT skills opens opportunities to wotk for IT sector as well as internet-based businesses.
