General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
To provide fundamental knowledge of social sciences and humanities with a focus on public administration and non-profit management theories and practices, values and ethics, basic social research methods and skills to apply them practically in public sector management.

Learning outcomes:
Basic knowledge and abilities:
A1 Are able to evaluate economic, social and environmental context of public governance.
A2 Are able to contextualize public governance system in political and legal environment.
A3 Are able to describe theories, models, processes, methods and relevant national and international contexts of public governance.
A4 Are able to describe models of organisational management and are able to plan, coordinate and control organisational process.
A5 Are able to collect and analyse data and information, to conduct qualitative and quantitative studies of public administration, to provide evidence based insights.
Basic knowledge and abilities in the area of public policy administration:
B1 Are able to define and summarize public policy process and the specificity of its’ management.
B2 Are able to identify, analyze and to choose independently instruments and models applied in public governance practice.
B3 Are able to evaluate political, legal, economic and social settings and accordingly identify and solve public sector problems in national and international contexts.
Basic skills of cooperation with citizens, allowing them to participate in public governance:
C1 Are able to determine and ensure the possibilities for NGOs and experts inclusion into public governance.

Basic knowledge and abilities to recognise the public interest and the principles of ethics and follow them when making decisions, as well as adhere to moral principles and social values in their activities:

Activities of teaching and learning:
The studies include classroom work (lectures, practical work, laboratory work, consultation seminars, outgoing visits to enterprises, etc.) and individual work for mastering theoretical material, preparation for classroom work, intermediate and final assessments and performing other activities. The studies of each study module are completed by the assessment of the student’s knowledge and skills – an examination or another final assessment; the study programme is completed by the final degree project and its defense.
The study methods of active learning, such as design (programming), design thinking, challenge-based learning, creative workshops, group work, experiential learning, discussion, problem-based learning, reflective learning, idea (mind) mapping, etc. are applied to encourage the active participation and creativity of students in the study process. The achievements are assessed using the traditional assessment methods, such as laboratory examination, assignments, laboratory or project report, as well as other methods: work or competency file (portfolio), problem-solving task, engineering project, reflection on action, self-assessment, etc.

Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
The applied cumulative assessment system of the learning outcomes ensures constant and involving work of students during the entire semester of studies; the final evaluation of the study module consists of the sum of the grades of intermediate assessments and the final assessment multiplied by the weighting coefficients (percentages of components).
The number of intermediate assessments and their expression in percentage are chosen by the study module’s coordinating lecturer. Besides the usual forms of assessment (for example, examination, oral presentation, project report, laboratory examination), an additional form of assessment “Assessment of student activity (level)” may be applied (up to 10% of the final grade) for the assessment of the student’s preparation for case analysis, an active discussion, participation in debates, etc.
