General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
 To prepare and educate the professionals of transport and logistics who would know the phenomena of contemporary business and economics, the trends of science and technologies and the advancements of machinery, which ensure the development of transport and logistics services sector in the state and the EU; would understand the theories and fundamental laws of business, economics, and engineering and the methods applicable for adequate analysis and solution of complex transport and logistics problems, arising under completely new conditions, would be able to use the results of the most recent research and the practical skills acquired from the study programme in the field of chosen professional activity and would be able to participate in carrying out scientific and applied research in the field of transport and logistics relevant to Lithuanian society;

Learning outcomes:
Knowledge:
• knowing the theories of fundamental sciences of the world-view, humanities and engineering and constantly shifting business and management theories, categories, principles, and methods in the changing environment of science and technological innovation;
• Knowing the transport sector and logistic infrastructure, advanced technologies of passenger and freight transportation, the most recent transport and logistics information systems, which ensure the success of the entire transport process and business competitiveness; as well as innovative methods of creating value and risk management, the processes of the management of an organisation and decision-making, and the significance of entrepreneurship in the context of the processes of globalisation and European Union integration.
Research skills:
• Understanding different viewpoints and arguments presented in the analysis of the essential causes of phenomena and processes, the consistent patterns, market mechanisms, and recognizing the possibilities for the expansion of business relations, which would ensure the sustainable development of transport and logistics and the state.
• Understanding the complexes of innovation in the transport sector, which would guarantee market competitiveness, long-term existence, and would ensure the preconditions for sustainable development at national and international levels.
Special skills:
• Applying the knowledge, basic theoretical statements, and models of economics, management, and other sciences for the efficient improvement of transport and logistics processes and the management of business entities, as well as databases (BIG DATA) and information systems to analyse transport and logistics processes.
• based on the knowledge of the human factor, innovative technologies, application of financial instruments, and the legislation regulating the activities of business entities, preparing and selecting business management strategies, principles, and models, which would allow most efficient achievement of results in transport and logistics business.
Social skills:
• Creativity, self-expression, analytical, systematic and crytical reasoning, information and data search and selection methods.
• knowledge of individual, group and team work techniques; decision-making and innovative activities.

• The ability to transfer the knowledge and competencies.

Activities of teaching and learning:
Inclusive and problem-based lectures, practical seminars, demonstrative assignments, practical training, independent work conducted either in groups or individually, distance learning, cognitive trips, case studies, preparing term papers and other written assignments, the search and generalisation of the required information, reading of educational and scientific books and articles, preparation and presentation of oral reports.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
Continuous assessment system: independent control tests, practical training reports, term papers and complex projects, defence of final theses, exams, etc.

Distinctive features of a study programme:
The present study programme along with essential changes and upgrades has been operating for many years. The vitality and relevance of the study programme lies in the fact that there is a clear orientation towards business demands and employment opportunities. Transportation and logistics sector account for up to 16 percent of GDP. This economic and business activity remains significant as consumers will always be in need of product and service supply. Students may be employed during their study years, or may remain in the companies upon completion of the Industrial practice or their studies to pursue further careers. Professional relations with social partners, cooperation with businesses create favourable conditions to obtain necessary competences and become a successful member of labour market. It is worth noting that the acquired education is sufficient enough to work in the areas adjacent to Transport and Logistics - production, sales, insurance and other.

The students may well be employed as senior specialists in the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Lithuania, State Road Transport Inspectorate, as well as in organizations governed by the Road Administration, Traffic control organizations, Freight and passenger transportation companies operating in national and international markets („Girteka Logistics“, „Transekspedicija“ „Axis Transport“, „Delta Logistics Group“, „Vlantana“), Insurance companies („Lietuvos draudimas “, „Ergo“, „Seesam“, „Compensa“, „Gjensidige Baltic“, etc.). Additionally, students may work as managers in transport, trade, production and state institutions. Students will be able to work at various levels in vehicle service centres, other public and private companies and institutions. After completing their studies and gaining experience, students may set up their own businesses and create jobs for others.
