Summary of the Profile

General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
To prepare information systems specialist being able to analyze and specify the demand of business, to design and install information systems while applying various design and modelling methods, to select engineering solutions and means in order to create and administer data bases and websites, to understand and apply safety principles of information systems, and who is able to make individual decisions, to work successfully under competitive labour market conditions and develop in professional activity.
Knowledge and its application:
Will know general regularities and laws of natural sciences, social sciences and the humanities, needed for understanding of information engineering fundamentals and reaching professional goals.
Will know the computer architecture, networks, operation systems, will have knowledge of functional and object-oriented programming and will be able to apply it in practice. Will know the methods of information systems and databases creation, administration and programming principles, and will apply them when designing information systems and databases with the help of various methodologies and devices for systems design and modelling according to determined requirements.
Will be able to creatively apply the knowledge of existing methods of developing internet technologies and software to solve engineering tasks. Will understand data structures, algorithms, principles of data analysis and will apply the knowledge in practice. Will know and apply the laws for copyright and laws, regulating environmental protection and labour safety.
Competences to carry out research:
Will be able to find proper professional information using information technologies, data bases, software and other scientific and engineering information resources. Will assess and manage information resources of an organization applying engineering and data analysis methods. Will evaluate engineering decisions from ethical, social, legal, economical and safety approach when selecting the constituent parts and structure of information systems. Will be able to experiment, analyse and interpret the data. Will have skills to operate computer hardware and software.
Special skills:
Will be able to select, install and maintain hardware and software to solve problems of information systems engineering. Will be able to select engineering solutions and means to develop and implement databases. Will design organisation websites, information systems and software that meet the demands, creatively applying analysis, design and modelling methods of information engineering. Will know and apply principles of information engineering safety, will understand principles of organising engineering activities and work. Will perform modelling and modernization of computerised activities, processes in an enterprise, analyse information demand, will plan and design computerized information systems, will run / manage IS development, deployment or development projects.
Social skills:
Will be able to solve engineering challenges individually and in a team. Will be able to communicate with the engineering community and the general public.
Personal skills:
Will comprehend the importance of the impact of engineering problems on society and environment, will obey the norms of professional ethics and engineering activities, understand responsibility for the results of engineering activities. Will be aware of the main aspects of project implementation and management for IS creation, installation or development on the level of engineering activities. Will comprehend the importance for individual professional development, the importance of lifelong learning and will prepare for it.
Activities of teaching and learning:
Lectures, consultations, practical tasks and course papers, individual work, practices of professional activities. Students accomplish practical tasks individually or in groups.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
The student‘s knowledge, skills and abilities acquired while studying subjects of a study programme are assessed after completing of individual assignments performed during the semester and exam session. The achieved learning outcomes after completion of subject/module studies are assessed attributing them to the levels of achievement: excellent, typical and threshold.

Mathematics, Discreet Mathematics, Theory of Probability and Statistics, Computer Physics, Electrical Engineering and Electronics, Applied Programs, Operation Systems, Engineering Graphics, Programming, Programming Engineering, Data Structures and Algorithms, Designing of Information Systems, Computer Architecture, Computer Networks, Data Base Systems, Internet Technology, Applied Research, Engineering Economics, Project Management, Development of mobile applications, IT Business Management Systems, Computer and Human Correlation, Safety of Information Systems.
Special Study Subjects:
Law, optional subjects by choice of students (Interdisciplinary project, Science Workshop Project, Data Visualization Systems, Visual and Security Systems, Computer Design, Logistics System, Programming in Python, Installation and maintenance of Information Systems, Cloud Computing – selected three of them).

Technological Practice 1, Technological Practice 2, Industrial Practice 1, Industrial Practice 2, Final Practice.
Completion of Studies:
Studies are completed by defending the Final work individually prepared by a student.
Distinctive features of a study programme:
Study programme is aimed at the analysis, assessment and development of innovative IS solutions and technologies, application of IS project management technologies in business enterprises and in organizations. It is also focused on the process information needs ‘analysis, design and realization, implementation, maintenance and development, on information systems, on the methods and models for managing information systems projects. The study program seeks to develop ability to reasonably assess functioning of implemented and developing information systems.
Access to professional activity or further study:
Graduate can work in business enterprises and organizations as systems analysts, IT project managers, administrators of data bases. Graduate is able to perform applied research of installation and maintenance of information systems.
Graduate can continue his/her studies having chosen university study programmes in the field of Information Engineering.
