Summary of the Profile

Objective(s) of a study programme:

Music Pedagogy Bachelor's degree programme aim is to prepare music teachers, who are able to apply their knowledge of music, pedagogy, psychology and practical skills of the teacher and performer in self-professional activities
Learning outcomes:

Graduate of the programme will be able to:
1. To use musical education methods in pedagogical activity.
2. To determine students‘ musical learning needs and abilities.
3. Differ and integrate tasks, while working with students with special needs (talented; with learning difficulties)
4. To use the innovations of education system and IT in pedagogical activity.
5. To perform piano pieces, given in the secondary education program.
6. To sing pieces given in the secondary education program
7. To organize musical events for the school community, while correctly choosing and adapting pedagogical and concert repertoire.
8. To compare various musical styles and explain the links between the most important musical elements and their change.
9. To evaluate personal and colleague’ pedagogical and creative work.
10. To prepare soloists of various age groups and musical collectives of various formations for festivals and contests.

Activities of teaching and learning:
Lectures, seminars, working in groups, individual work, portfolio, literature study, discussions, final education project, final art projects, undergraduate work
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
Study results are evaluated during the term (held midterms in writing and playing them) and the final art projects. All subjects are evaluating for an exam. The cumulative assessment score system is applied, which percentage is estimated in study course description. Students’ progress through the exams is graded from 1 (very poor) to 10 (excellent).

Optional courses:

16 credits are given for student’s free elective subjects. Students can choose B Group subjects from other faculties. Having available credits students can choose from the university A, B, C, D groups of subjects.
Student may also choose borderland field of studies.
