General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
To prepare a competent primary school teacher who would organise quality and innovative formal and non-formal education that is based on the newest scientific and professional activity research for the young school children, in accordance with their needs and intercultural values.
Learning outcomes:
Knowledge and its application:
• Will analyze and evaluate Lithuania’s and other countries’ education experience and science shift tendencies, will know strategic attitudes of sustainable development oriented education.
• Will apply active educational environment creation methods
• Will explain pupil’s development patterns, ways of his/her needs recognition, possibilities and peculiarities of educational process management, importance of reflection and its strategies, factors determining quality education.
• Will analyze and apply education content documents in professional activity.
• Will apply proper assessment systems and methodologies for evaluating each pupil’s capacity and education needs.
Ability to conduct research:
• Will organize professional activity research, will use its results for learning development;
• Will plan, prepare and implement educational projects.
Special abilities:
• Will communicate in national and foreign languages, by expressing thoughts visually and reasonably
• Will communicate and collaborate with pupil’s family and other participants of educational process by following constructive and positive principles, will share good experience.
• Will develop pupil’s information culture.

Activities of teaching and learning:
The studies are oriented towards active learning, therefore the applied methods of learning include collaboration, development of critical thinking and problem solving. Students are encouraged to discover their own style of learning and reflect on their experiences.

The following study methods are applied: case analysis, project work, problem solving, creative assignments, question-answer and reflection methods, concept mapping, individual and group presentations of students’ work, etc.

Distinctive features of a study programme:
The alternative modules (Pre-primary Education Pedagogy, Innovative Technologies in Primary Education) will provide greater opportunities for employment, and will develop students’ ability to ensure the quality of the educational process, while meeting the contemporary requirements of pupils and the society.
Erasmus+ students have the opportunity to study or intern in European universities and colleges with analogous study programmes, as well as complete an internship abroad after acquiring their bachelor’s degree.

Graduates will be able to work as primary teachers or teachers according to chosen specialization at all types of general education schools.
Access to further study:
Graduates can apply to postgraduate studies in Lithuania and abroad. Although different universities may have additional requirements for entering master level, for example to complete additional courses.
