Summary of the Profile

Objective of a study programme:
to prepare communication specialists, able to manage any type of public relations in an organization, to plan its communication strategy, to initiate, create and implement representative written, visual and audiovisual products, to spread qualitative content of information in the modern media through the use of tools and channels of digital communication.
Learning outcomes
A graduate of studies will be able:
1. to apply communication theory, public relations strategy, knowledge of business, law and ethics while positioning an organization and its activity, creating a positive image of an organization in constantly changing home and foreign markets;
2. to apply research methods of social sciences and public communication in the analysis, development and improvement of communicative activity of an organization;
3. to manage internal and external communication in organizations while planning trends of information activity in accordance with the type and nature of an organization activity, when foreseeing the most suitable communication strategy;
4. to create informational oral, written, visual, audiovisual products through the application of the models of story creation and telling, tools and channels of digital communication, technologies of public relations;
5. to initiate, prepare and manage communicative projects, events of an organization both independently and in a team, cherishing values, traditions and social responsibility of an organization;
6. to choose, to use and to coordinate both traditional and modern ways of transferring information in an organization, assuring the most effective spread of a certain content for a target audience;
7. to administer website of an organization and accounts of social networks, to create their content, to maintain feedback with the customers of an organization, its users and partners;
8. to communicate officially both in written and orally with customers, society, demonstrating an exceptional culture of a Lithuanian word;
9. to cooperate with international partners of an organization in a professional foreign language;
10. to constantly assess one’s professional qualification, to foresee the trends of self-expression and self-development, to learn independently seeking creative and responsible representation of organization and art of communication in a competitive environment.

Activities of teaching and learning:
Analysis of practical situations and case studies, project work, concept and idea map, task solving, document analysis, problem-based teaching, demonstration and analysis of practical examples, Real problems solving in projects activity, practices of professional activity, final thesis.

Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
Cumulative assessment and a ten-point assessment system are applied. When applying cumulative assessment the learning outcomes are evaluated by interim assignments. Course unit programmes foresee certain structural elements of assessment, their weight in the final assessment, content, criteria and requirements for certain tasks of assessment. Studies of each course unit end with an examination. In the Final Thesis students demonstrate the achieved learning outcomes of Digital Communication study programme.

Management of Organizations’ Websites, Preparation and Management of Communication Projects.
Optional course units correspond to the values of the University and aim at developing exceptional competences of a student in order to form a unified portrait of a student. 4 competences of a student are distinguished: Creativity and Entrepreneurship, Digital Communication, Linguistic Communication, Personal Development and Career Management.
Teaching and Final practices of professional activity are done.

Access to professional activity:
Persons who have acquired Professional Bachelor Qualification Degree in Social Sciences can work in the organizations of public and private sectors, in companies of public relations and media business, agencies of creativity and advertising, in non-profit making organizations as communication specialists, able to independently initiate and implement activities of digital communication – to create representative products of information (written, visual and audiovisual), to administer websites of organizations and social networks, to create there a qualitative content; heads of communication divisions, able to manage public relations in any type of an organization, to plan its communication strategy in the modern media; independent creators of online content, consultants of digital communication; creators of companies, related to information spread and communication.

Access to further studies:
Studies can be continued in Lithuanian and foreign higher schools, implementing II cycle study programmes in the group of Social Sciences study field. Graduates, aiming at studying in the second cycle studies of communication field must conform to the requirements pre-set by the higher school and in the descriptor of the group of study field or fields, have knowledge and abilities necessary for studies in accordance with the programmes of a certain field.
