Summary of the Profile

Objective(s) of a study programme:
to prepare lawyers, who are able to manage
legal documents, provide legal assistance to natural and legal persons, represent legal interests of individuals
and entities, capable of applying professional activity methods and measures effectively and responsibly in
state and law enforcement authorities, companies and organizations.

Learning outcomes:
After graduating from the studies, a person will be able:
1. To responsibly assess social-economic and public phenomena while creatively applying knowledge of
law and other social sciences.
2. To apply communication means and models, the principles of professional ethics when working in a
team and communicating with customers.
3. To apply a legal norm in specific legal relations.
4. To prepare local legal acts, contracts and other legal documents in companies, institutions,
organizations.
5. To organize and assess legal administration of the activity of companies and institutions.
6. To represent public management, business and private entities in the relations with the third parties.
7. To operatively carry out the actions of a pre-trial investigation and to suitably qualify criminal acts.
8. To assess the sources of legal information, using the modern information technologies and databases of legal information.
9. To do scientific – empirical research, while formulating goals and tasks of a research, raising
hypotheses and verifying them, while collecting and analyzing data and while making conclusions.
10 To assess one‘s professional activity, knowledge and experience, to foresee the trends of self-
expression and self-development and to develop one‘s professionalism in a constantly changing society.

Activities of teaching and learning:
Analysis of practical situations and case studies, project work, concept and idea map, task solving, document analysis, problem-based teaching, demonstration and analysis of practical examples , practices of professional activity, final thesis.

Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
Cumulative assessment and a ten-point assessment system are applied. When applying cumulative assessment the learning outcomes are evaluated by interim assignments. Course unit programmes foresee certain structural elements of assessment, their weight in the final assessment, content, criteria and requirements for certain tasks of assessment. Studies of each course unit end with an examination. In the Final Thesis students demonstrate the achieved learning outcomes of Law study programme.

Law Theory and history; Constitutional Law; Basics of Economics and Management; Professional Foreign Language; Law Enforcement Institutions; Labour Law; Social Security Law or Family Law; Civil Law; Administrative Law and Procedure; Contract Law; Law of Civil Procedure; International Public Law; Commercial and Competition Law; Social Research Methodology; Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure; The European Union Law; Public Procurement; Intellectual Property Law; Organizing Activity of Pre-trial Investigation; Labour Disputes.
Optional course units correspond to the values of the University and aim at developing exceptional competences of a student in order to form a unified portrait of a student. 4 competences of a student are distinguished: Creativity and Entrepreneurship, Digital Communication, Linguistic Communication, Personal Development and Career Management.

Teaching and Final practices of professional activity are done.

Access to professional activity:
Graduates can work as investigators of a pre-trial investigation, court sitting secretaries; as civil servants in municipalities and other state institutions; in company administrations, in police headquarters and other law enforcement institutions, customs; as legal advisers, legal secretaries, lawyers in business companies and non-governmental organizations; in offices of bailiffs, solicitors and in notaries offices.

Access to further studies:
Studies can be continued in Lithuanian and foreign higher schools, implementing II cycle study programmes in the group of Law study field. Graduates, aiming at studying in the second cycle studies of law field must conform to the requirements pre-set by the higher school and in the descriptor of the group of study field or fields, have knowledge and abilities necessary for studies in accordance with the programmes of a certain field. Graduates also may study according to study programmes that do not provide any degree.
