Summary of the Profile

Objective(s) of a study programme:
graduate shall demonstrate the knowledge and understanding of economic phenomena;
graduate shall be able to innovatively organize and manage entity' economic, financial and investment activities in accordance with the nature of business in a constantly changing global environment;
graduate shall professionally apply advanced economic, financial, business management and forecasting models;
graduate shall be able to integrate into the labor market and to improve his/her qualification independently or in further studies.
Learning outcomes:
Graduate after successful completion the study programme shall:
know and understand business management, economic and financial theories and concepts;
know and be able to utilize accounting, financial and legal requirements for the entity's economic and financial activities.
organize economic and financial activities of an entity in a business sector;
manage economic information, applying advanced information management methods;
analyse and evaluate the efficiency of economic and financial resources usage of an entity;
understand and be able to analyse and evaluate the economic environment and its impact on economic and financial activities of an entity in a business sector;
plan and predict economic, financial and investment activities of an entity in a business sector;
develop entity' economic and financial activities strategy and its economic justification;
control execution of entity' activity plans, usage efficiency of tangible, labor and financial resources and evaluate the quality of economic and financial activities;

be able to adapt (continuously learn) to the ever changing global environment.
Activities of teaching and learning:
Teaching and learning activities are geared toward development of students entrepreneurship, creativity and special competences. Innovative teaching and learning methods are used, which provide and consolidate the basic knowledge and promote analytical thinking as well as simulation of professional activities. Subjects of the study field are dominated by methods of providing and consolidating the fundamental knowledge (an involving lecture, a seminar, a discussion, problem-based teaching, a demonstration) and developing skills and abilities to be active, self-sufficient and a critical thinker (practical tasks, problem solving, fulfillment of tasks and decision making, case study, technical modeling, group work as well as individual work, etc.). In order to achieve the learning outcomes of general college study subjects, the following methods are used along with those already mentioned: problem conversation, logical proof, role plays, work with a text, brainstorming, usage of information resources, dialogue, maps of concepts and others. These methods develop student' personal and social skills.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
Assessment of study results is a part of the study process. Assessment is carried out during the whole semester and the exam session. Ten-grade criterion-based assessment system and accumulative assessment are used. During the semester learning outcomes are assessed through interim assessments (written quizzes, control tasks, creative tasks, projects, which are written and orally defended). The studies of every subject end with an examination or assessment of student's self-study work (project, research, practical activity evaluation, etc.). Student's knowledge and skills are assessed at the exam session only after student completes the assigned interim assessment tasks during the semester. Final assessment (mark) consists of marks for interim assessments and an examination mark. Its composition is provided according to the proportions indicated in the subject description.

Scope the main part of study field subjects is 135 credits (including practical training).
Key subjects: Microeconomics and Macroeconomics, Applied Mathematics, Basics of Management, Accounting, Economic Statistics, Economics of Enterprises, Basics of Marketing, Business Planning, Basics of Finance, Management Accounting, Tax System, Mathematical Models of Business Systems, Economics of Investment, The Single Market of European Union, International Economics, Course Paper, etc.
Business Economics study programme includes following professional activities: Practice of Document Management, Practice of Computerised Accounting, Business Simulation Practice, Practice of Economics Analysis, Final Practice. Two subjects - Economical Informatics, Company Audit and Control - have integrated practices.
Studies are completed with the development and defense of the graduation paper.

Optional courses:
Students can choose alternative subjects for deepening in the study field (branch): Economics of Production Enterprises / Economics of Sales and Services Enterprises (6 credits); Applied Economics of Transport / Economics of Construction Companies (6 credits); Energy Economics / Environmental Economics (3 credits).
9 credits are intended for freely optional subjects. Students can freely choose subjects offered by the College or follow subjects by taking part in mobility projects.
