Summary of the Profile

General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
The aim of the programme – to educate specialists providing theoretical knowledge and practical skills in hospitality and events management business, and enabling all graduates to apply them relevantly managing business activities of hospitality and events business units operating in multicultural environment.

Is able to take initiative, to demonstrate critical thinking, systematic approach while working independently and in a team in compliance with the principles ethics;
Is able to apply professional knowledge and skills presenting and underpinning business development solutions in hospitality and events management field;
Is able to demonstrate entrepreneurial behaviour for personal and professional development timely reacting to market changes;
Professional Competencies
Knows the principles of business organization and understands internal and external factors influencing tourism, accommodation services, events business; is able to identify them;
Knows structural components of tourism, accommodation services and events business components and their relations and interaction;
Is able to define tourism, accommodation services and events business specific features and their manifestation in multicultural business environment;
Is able to develop hospitality industry products and services applying project – based methods and business – modelling techniques;
Is able to present hospitality products and services;
Is able to develop real – time business solutions according to specific requirements of tourism, accommodation services and events business environment;

Activities of teaching and learning:
Vilnius Business College creates a distinctive learning and teaching environment and implements innovative teaching methods. The recently-implemented Project-based teaching method aims to develop students’ skills such as leadership, entrepreneurship, team-work, time planning and finance management, etc.
A great deal of learning activities will be organized using College virtual learning environment, new ICT technologies, and social media. Students will have lectures and seminars in psychology, team-work, effective work and study methods as well as time planning conducted by professional lecturers and experienced practitioners. Students will get acquainted with the study process, College values, opportunities for international studies and internships.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
To evaluate achievement of learning outcomes proportional criterion-cumulative assessment (cumulative assessment) system is applied which is defined in Study Regulations. This document as all the others documents related to the study process is published on College website http://kolegija.lt/lt//studijos/studiju-dokumentai/86.
Evaluation criteria are selected according to the study programme and subject learning outcomes and peculiarities of the subject. Cumulative grade structure is given in each module description and will be presented to students during the first lecture.
Students’ achievement assessment methods such as test, exam, project work will enable students to understand their weaknesses and strengths, and will help to evaluate their achievement level.

General study subjects – 15 credits: Psychology, Applied Information Technologies, Basics of Law, English.
Study field subjects – no less then 135 credits:
Tourism Module: Tourism Resources & Geography, Tourism Organization, Project; Accomodation Module: Food & Beverages, Accomodation Services, Customer Service & Project; Event Module: Event Organization, MICE & Business Event, Leisure & Cultural Events, Project; Integrated Business Studies: Business Organization, Project; Management & Organizational Behaviour, Personel Manegement, Project Management; Marketing Module: Marketing, Sales Management, Marketing Communication & Consumer Behaviour, Intercultural Business Communication, Professional Language & Written Communication, Basics of Accounting, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Hospitality Logistics, Professional English, Second Foreign Language, Hospitality Information Systems.
Internships – 30 credits
Final project – 9 credits
Free-elective subjects – no less then 9 credits.

To deepen and strengthen their knowledge and skills in IT applications, entrepreneurship, students have an opportunty to choose subjects from all the study programmes organized by the College.
Distinctive features of a study programme:
Students can choose from a variety of second foreign languages: German, French, Spanish, Swedish, Chinese and Russian. An interdisciplinary approach is used in Project-Based Learning.

Graduates of the study programme will be able to work in accommodation and food, transport organization, tourism information, hospitality and leisure services representing companies as administrators, project executives, and conference managers, specialists of Country Branding in international market, marketing specialists and managers of hospitality industry, leisure event organizers.
Access to further study:
Graduates of the Hospitality and Events Management study programme will be able to apply for further Master studies in Hospitality, Tourism, Events, Business, Management, Marketing and other similar study fields at universities in Lithuania and abroad.
