Summary of the Profile

General description
Study programme aims:
to prepare an elementary school music teacher who is able to cultivate the general musical culture, to organize teaching/learning process, to interact and collaborate with all participants of this process, to develop children's musical abilities, to improve professional and special competencies.
A person who obtains the pedagogue's qualification:
• knows the essentials of methods for developing and applying of artistic and creativity abilities in children;
• is able to perform the applied studies with the following usage of results for the professional edification;
• demonstrates the ability to analyze pupils' musical interests and needs, and to select the most appropriate expressions of music;
• has the ability to conduct the education process through the motivatinal teaching/learning methods, forms and techniques;
• is able to model, create, personalize, differentiate and integrate the curriculum;
• manages to communicate and collaborate with the school community, administration and social partners;
• demonstrates the ability to develop pupils' understanding of musical values, their ethnic and intercultural peculiarities;
• accomplishes objective assessment of the professional activities with the following reflection of its results in the common cultural and professional competence;
• is able to develop students' creative and practical experience through the friendly learning environment.
Activities of teaching and learning:
Lecture, practicum, seminar, discussion, presentation, observation, literature analysis, team work, study case research, projects development, etc.
Students develop their practical skills in a real time environment practices in various educational institutions, creative workshops, concerts and other forms of musical expression.
Assessment methods of study results:
A ten-point grading scale is used as an assessment system. A subject course is completed with exam or student’s independent work (project). In determining the final assessment of the subject the cumulative assessment system is used, which consists of interim settlement assessments and the arithmetic average of the exam grade, multiplied by the weighting given to them by the amount.

Elective music modules: A1 Developing skills on the organ; A2 Conducting folk music group; A3 Accompaniment; A4 Preschool music education; A5 Conducting brass band; A6 Conducting vocal group; A7 Ensembling; A8 Special music education.
Optional courses:
The students may choose 12 credits from the study programme courses list. The rest three are optional credits which the student can choose from the optional subjects list.
Distinctive features of a study programme:
The study programme is focused to develop musical practitioners. In order to be enrolled, students must take a music and motivation tests.
Access to professional activity or further study:
Access to professional activity:
Acquired knowledge, skills and competences enable graduates to pursue the position of a music teacher, an organiser of extra-curricular activities of a secondary school/preschool/kindergarten/non-formal educational institution, to work with disabled people, or as a church organist, a leader of folk music ensembles and orchestras. Graduates will be able to use their gained professional skills and experience in music in the fields of art and science.
Access to further study:
The college Bachelor's degree diploma is recognized by universities where a student can continue his/her studies.
Those graduates who successfully completed the supplementary courses are entitled to Master's degree studies.
