Summary of the Profile

Objective(s) of a study programme:
The objective of the Creative and Cultural Industries program is to develop highly qualified professionals in the field of creative and cultural industries who have a worldview oriented to the needs/requirements of creative society, who have developed professional thinking, and acquired sufficient integral scientific, artistic and technological knowledge, that enhances the development of creative economy and who are capable of relating it with the realities of knowledge society, new communication and media technologies, increasing interactions between complex organizational forms and multi-level governance models, integrated cultural communication methods and the commercialization of cultural and creative activities, support systems in the process of global change and competition conditions that are actively shaping a creative society not only in Lithuania or in the Baltic region but also in the context of the European Union.
Learning outcomes:
Students have :
1. to know the most recent scientific, artistic, cultural and technological knowledge in the field of creative and cultural industries;
2. to understand communication science, its theory, practical application and the interdisciplinary character of this field;
3. to acquire the ability to create and develop ideas on their own and to perceive the phenomenon of the value added as well as its use for economic impact;
4. to be able to develop various areas of creative and cultural industries by the process of creative management;
5. to be able to disseminate and purposefully communicate the results of creative activities in different environments;
6. to be able to apply the acquired knowledge on their own in a rapidly changing multi-aspect context formed by global creative, cultural, social and technological trends;
7. to be able to integrate the information supplied by different sectors of creative and cultural industries in order to get a system as a whole having commercial and economic sense;
8. to understand new economic tendencies and the significance of creative and cultural products in this context;
9. to be able to communicate effectively and professionally in written and oral English and Lithuanian languages, to communicate both complete and incomplete information;
10. to be able to articulate clear information about creative and cultural industries in the intersection of creative economy and the concepts of creative society;
11. to be able to further develop their qualification competencies on their own by systematizing relevant information and to develop new abilities;
12. to be able to adapt to the changing creative economy, creative industries and cultural environment by applying the knowledge gained and by accumulating new knowledge.
Activities of teaching and learning:
The study process consists of a variety of teaching and learning methods that meet students' different learning styles and needs. In most courses in order to achieve more efficient assimilation of knowledge, several methods are combined: theoretical, involving, interactive, problem-based training lectures, workshops and seminars where students carry out practical tasks, analyze work-related cases and situations, present concept maps, prepare presentations for certain subject courses, participate in discussions, consult their colleagues, develop individual and team projects, discuss the sources of visual material and other. During individual work hours students analyze specialty-related literature, search for information, write their reflection journals, and do research.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
Cumulative assessment is applied. It consists of intermediate assignments (colloquia, practical work, individual and team assignments and their presentation, research work, etc.) and evaluation of students' performance at written or oral examination.

4. Behavior of Organizations or Finance.
Distinctive features of a study programme:
The study programme is directly linked to the needs of creative market and is oriented to the context of creative economic development, global approach, student-centered teaching methods and problem-based teaching didactics, which leads not to a formal study process and but to a creative result. The distinctiveness of the study programme shows itself in integration of cultural dimension to social relations and knowledge of cultural and moral values that generate innovative ideas, and new interdisciplinary approaches and create innovative media. The distinctive advantage of the study programme is the fact that a significant part of the program is designed to enhance students entrepreneurial competences to create and successfully develop creative economic organizations directed to the welfare of the society, to be able to compete at European and global levels, to develop knowledge that not only allows to work in existing organizations, but also helps to create new innovative workplaces by developing businesses in new creative and cultural industrial sectors.
