Programos aprašymo santrauka anglų kalba (Summary of the Profile of a Study Programme) General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
To prepare highly qualified creative, critically thinking design specialists able to organize and manage creative process individually or in cooperation with clients and specialists of the same or different areas, to prepare sketches, to design, assess objects of product design, develop qualitative projects of product design and provide design services, corresponding to the needs of customers and the latest design trends in both national and international markets.
Learning outcomes:
Graduates of the programme :
1. Are able to apply in an integrated manner the latest knowledge of the main design concepts and approaches, historical and modern development of design, means of visual expression, features of composite materials in the practical artistic activity when developing skills of artistic design.
2. Are able to apply the principles of computer graphics in their professional activity when carrying out creative projects of product design, know methods trends of design and 3D modeling, corresponding to the relevant design phenomena and trends in solving problems of artistic creativity.
3. Are able to apply quantitative and qualitative research methods, prepare research tools, assessing business environment and market trends form creative design solutions necessary to satisfy the needs of a customer.
4. Are able to generate, both individually and in a team, product design ideas and approaches, foresee methods of implementation, visual expression and technological measures and provide customers with professional solutions of design problems predicting further possibilities of idea development.
5. Analyzing the relations between a designed object and its environment are able to sketch objects of product design, purposefully apply means of artistic expression, newly occurring media and innovative technologies, support on the modern design practice and trends when revealing results of professional activity in creative industries and visual culture.
6. Using personal creative experience are able to develop objects or systems of product design, use advanced creative and technological measures when reviewing design innovations in both national and international levels and foreseeing efficient ways of presenting marketing and communication tools.
7. Are able through an independent formulation of project goals to assess the demand for product design projects, their efficacy, production technologies, technical, social, health, environmental, commercial requirements, corresponding to the needs of a customer and the latest design trends in the national and international markets.
8. When carrying out practical requirements for product design projects are able to manage projects of a product design object of an exceptional quality, taking into account technological and production capacities to organize preparation of product design object for production, to ensure product competitiveness understanding the specificity of design field and interrelations with other fields of art.
9. Are able to communicate and cooperate with specialists and customers in one’s and other areas, to plan and organize one’s activity following the established terms, using creative methods to solve tasks of professional activity within the limits of the selected design study field.
10. Are able to communicate efficiently both in the Lithuanian and foreign languages, work in a team, coordinate activity of a creative group, take social and ethical responsibility for the impact of creative activity on the society and customer.
11. Are able to assess systematically and critically one’s professional activity, knowledge and experience, make decisions, generate new ideas, study independently and develop one’s professionalism foreseeing the fields of lifelong learning as well as self-expression and self-development.
Activities of teaching and learning:
Innovative teaching and learning methods are applied, active student involvement in the study process is achieved: student-centered learning is based on practical tasks, emphasizing the importance of the student's independent work and ability to solve different situations creatively (problem-based learning demonstration and analysis of practical examples, workshops, reviews of creative works, attendance at exhibitions, etc.). Activating and heuristic study methods are proportionally combined with traditional knowledge and skills development methods: lectures, seminars, discussions and counseling.
Methods of assessment of learning
achievements:
Cumulative assessment and ten-point grading system are used. Cumulative assessment is used to evaluate learning outcomes through interim assessments. Study subject programs contain specific structural elements of assessment, their weight in the final assessment, the content, criteria and requirements of specific assessment tasks. The study of each subject ends with an examination or assessment of the student's self-made work (project). The final mark consists of the components of cumulative assessment defined in the subject program (eg: mid-term examinations, independent work, exam), the percentage of which is determined in the study subject program.

Study subjects (modules), practical
training:
152 credits were awarded for the study subjects of the field. The following study subjects are studied: Basics of Design; Computer Graphics and Design; History of Design; Visual Expression; Intellectual Property Law and Data Protection; Material Testing and Production Processes; Design and Technology; Ergonomics and Human Factors; Photography; 3D Modeling; Branding; Typography; Development and Management of Product Design Project, Market and Design research and more.
A minimum of 15 credits from the following alternative study subjects must be elective in the Direction Study Group: Audiovisual Product Development or Multimedia and Animation; Packaging Design Project or Product Design Project; Eco design or environmental protection.
16 credits for general subjects. 12 credits consist of elective study subjects. Performing educational and final professional practice in real life conditions. The total volume of internships is 33 credits. Thesis consists of 9 credits.

Optional courses:
Students will have the opportunity to choose between 6 courses for deepening their knowledge of the study field, of which students will accumulate 15 credits. Students will be able to choose from field study subjects such as Audiovisual Product Development or Multimedia and Animation, Packaging Design Project or Product Design Project; Eco Design or Environment.
Students are offered elective courses for interdisciplinary studies or the development of generic competences and are selected by the student from a list of optional courses offered by the college. The estimated volume of elective courses is 12 credits.

The future specialist of product design development will be able to work in food and drink industry and technological companies, which use design as well as in cosmetics industry companies, textile industry companies, medicine and beauty area, furniture industry companies, design companies, to establish sole proprietorships or to do an individual creative-practical job.
Access to further study:
Graduates will be able to continue studies to gain bachelor degree in a university. After completion of bridging courses or after meeting other requirements of a higher education institution, will be allowed to enter second cycle magistrate studies.
