General Description:
Objective of a study programme:
Developing a landscape architect who understands the changing needs of the present-day society and the challenges of the environment, who can work together with other professionals and rationally, creatively and ////responsibly plan, design and manage the open spaces, parks and gardens of contemporary cities, cultural landscapes and landscapes of infrastructure objects.
Learning outcomes:
Knowledge, their application
Ž.1 Is aware, holistically perceives and understands the nature and peculiarity of the changing landscape forces in time and space.
Ž.2 Knows and understands the essence of landscape planning, design and maintenance.
Ability to conduct research
T.1 Is able to analyse the basic phenomena of changing landscape, to create its development scenarios and to predict their consequences, to apply the methods of planning, design and maintenance in line with the research.
Subject specific competences
Sp.1 Is able to design basic landscape projects for urban open spaces, parks and squares, cultural landscapes and infrastructure objects in the context of legal, ethical and other regulation.
Sp.2 Is able to select and use various materials, plants and other resources in a sustainable way in landscape architecture projects.
Sp.3 Is able to plan and manage basic realization of landscape architecture projects and to foresee the processes of landscape development and its maintenance by practically applying ICT in a creative way.
Social competences
S.1 Is able to organize his / her own small team and teamwork to solve the analysed problems by thinking integrally with modern methods and to carry out different participatory planning situations with public participation.
S.2 Is able to hold criticism and learn from mistakes, to think spatially in time, to work ethically with other professionals in local and international cultural environments.
Personal competences
A.1 Is able to apply the acquired knowledge in practice, create new ideas and constantly learn in changing socio-economic and multicultural environments.
A.2 Ability to achieve success and quality by working independently and creatively, ethically, responsibly planning his own, small team activities, and managing basic projects.
Activities of teaching and learning:
Teaching, learning and assessment methods include the coordination of lectures, seminars, design studio, consultations, project preparation, independent work, discussions, ex-works, creative workshops, research elements and practices, which provide the student with the necessary knowledge, the acquisition of practical skills and facilitates formation of values. The teaching of each subject combines two main forms of teaching / learning - theoretical lectures and design studio.

Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
The programme use proportional ten-point grading system to assess students learning achievements. It applies to examinations, course projects, course work, homework, tests, papers, colloquiums and other tasks. Each module card provides details on the applied Cumulative Score Principle, the assessment phases and the evaluation structure.

Study subjects (modules), practical training:
The program consists of 12 credits of general university education subjects and 165 credits for study field subjects. The major part of the programme consists of subjects of the study field (core) and here it allocates 25 credits for general study subjects, 101 credits for the main subjects of the study field, 12 credits for the subjects of the other study field, 15 credits for the professional practice and 15 credits for the final thesis.

Distinctive features of a study programme:
The programme is a 3-year full-time study (180 EC credits) and awards Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Qualification Degree. The programme implements a modular principle of study, the content of studies is problem-based, and the study subjects follow consistently raising the complexity of the tasks. New integrated blended learning techniques are applied and a ways of assessing learning and academic progress by the zone of proximal development, learning-based study tasks simulate real-life environment and involve communicating with business representatives.

Access to professional activity:
Graduates of the Landscape Architecture Study Programme will work in specialised landscape architecture design and engineering companies and design offices that work on site planning, building design, and construction projects.
In the cities and districts of Lithuania, the Ministry of Environment, its departments, the Department of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture, regional and national parks landscape architects will work as administrators, project managers, and landscape managers.
Bachelors of Landscape Architecture may also continue their studies at a Master's degree in Lithuania, at our partner universities in the EU countries or in other countries.
The European Union labour market is also open to landscape architecture professionals. Landscape architects with IFLA and ECLAS-compliant education are also welcome in municipalities of many countries.

May continue their studies in landscape architecture master programme at VGTU or in the EU partner’s universities.
