Summary of the Profile

Objective(s) of a study programme: to educate specialists of international and intercultural communication capable to analyze, understand and evaluate phenomena of foreign and multicultural dimensions, to determine causes of these phenomena and predict future trends. Specialists should be fluent in at least two foreign languages. Bachelors with degree in international and intercultural communication would be capable to use modern communication technologies, would know how to analyze and promote new projects, and organize international events.

Learning outcomes:
R1. Ability to independently research and analyze the scientific literature, ability to systematically and critically think, to see the problematic issues of theory and practice, ability to critically evaluate the organization's philosophy and scientific concepts, scientific and social analysis of the texts, ability to assess the environmental conditions resulting from groups of people and individuals in relationships, ability to selection of relevant information, to organize, evaluate, develop your logical approach, the ability to integrate different approaches to study and communicate in a correct communication using scientific terminology.
R2. Understand the characteristics of modern communication and creative technologies to analyze their applicability in different cultural and multicultural conditions, designs economic and cultural learning, effective and creative public environments fulfil their implementation strategies, adoption of sustainable solutions.
R3. Understand how communication forms intercultural and multicultural structure of modern society, how relationships between different cultures are created, maintained and developed.
R4. Ability to organize research, analyze, prepare prognosis, ability to mediate talks, prepare long and short term information and media campaigns and their presentations.
R5. Able to put into practice the scientific knowledge of international and intercultural communication and evaluate the development potential of communication and media to carry out innovative projects by using the acquired knowledge in new and unfamiliar environments.
R6. Ability to socially responsible use of communication skills and knowledge of other social sciences in different cultural and multicultural environment, defending the universal values of human rights, freedom of speech and freedom of information.
R7. Ability to speak read and write in at least two foreign languages, prepare presentations, communication projects in traditional and untraditional environment.
R8. Graduates are able to socially responsible use of communication technology and creative expertise in innovation, the use of social networks, and the development of e-participation.
R9. Ability to independently research and learn in the field of communication technologies and creative achievements, new media and other emerging technologies, trends, and prospects of Lithuania and the world. Ability to analyze phenomena of international sphere, international and intercultural conflicts, understanding of the principles of self-help and ability to adapt them to ensuring continuous development in changing socio-economic environment.

Activities of teaching and learning: Lectures, seminars, independent work individually and in groups, practical skills based learning. Various experiential learning methods are used. Activities of teaching and learning are uniquely set at the beginning of each course. Those acivities are set according to priorities of teachers and students.

Methods of assessment of learning achievements: Outcomes measured in terms of students' work during the semester and the final examination results. During semester activity that are evaluated: individual and group work presentations, projects, case studies and other types of tasks. Problem based learning and reflection methods are applied.

Optional courses: 12 ECTS optional courses from list set by University; possibility to study for a minor degree.

Distinctive features of a study programme: Connection of deep practical foreign language studies with practical communication skills
