Summary of the Profile

Objective(s) of a study program:
The objective of the Fashion Industry program is to educate highly qualified professionals, who have knowledge of development and vicissitude of fashion industry, that enhances the development of creative economy and who are capable of relating it with the realities of knowledge society, new communication and media technologies, increasing interactions between complex organizational forms and multi-level governance models, integrated cultural communication methods and the commercialization of cultural and creative activities, support systems in the process of global change and competition conditions that are actively shaping a creative society not only in Lithuania or in the Baltic region but also in the context of the European Union.
Learning outcomes:
Students have :
1. to know the most recent theoretical and practical information of Communications science and to understand connections and future tendencies of creative society, creative economy and creative business also to know the most recent scientific, artistic, cultural and technological knowledge in the field of creative and cultural industries.
2. to know the structure of fashion industry, to understand the assumptions of communication, management and social development, to perceive the extent of these industries and it‘s functions in creative economy and to be aware of the structure of fashion industry, it‘s specifications, to know how the mechanisms of value creation work, to be able to tell the assumptions of tourism integration in creative economy through the entertainment industries.
3. to be able to form models of fashion industry, communication and innovative chains of additional value by applying certain knowledge and perception.
4. to acquire the ability to create and develop new organization methods and branches of fashion industry.
5. to be able to make stable decisions concerning integration of fashion industry in the context of creative society.
6. to be able to apply the acquired knowledge on their own in a rapidly changing technological, legal, social and ethical environments.
7. to be able to communicate effectively and professionally in written and oral foreign and Lithuanian languages, to communicate both complete and incomplete information.
8. to know how to formulate information of fashion industry in the intersection of creative economy and creative society conceptions.
9. to be able to improve and learn independently by organizing information and developing new skills.
10. to be able to adapt to changing models of creative economy and fashion industry.
Activities of teaching and learning:
The study process consists of a variety of teaching and learning methods that meet students' different learning styles and needs. In most courses in order to achieve more efficient assimilation of knowledge, several methods are combined: theoretical, involving, interactive, problem-based training lectures, workshops and seminars where students carry out practical tasks, analyze work-related cases and situations, present concept maps, prepare presentations for certain subject courses, participate in discussions, consult their colleagues, develop individual and team projects, discuss the sources of visual material and other. During individual work hours students analyze specialty-related literature, search for information, write their reflection journals, and do research.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
Cumulative assessment is applied. It consists of intermediate assignments (colloquia, practical work, individual and team assignments and their presentation, research work, etc.) and evaluation of students' performance at written or oral examination.

Distinctive features of a study program:
It is the first study program of this type, because none of the universities in Lithuania has or administers any specialized undergraduate program of fashion industries. This program is different from others in terms of specific subjects offered for studies (specialized subjects), its conceptual framework and its qualitative leap from the traditional approach.
