General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
To prepare creative minded bachelors of civil engineering who are able to plan, design, organize and manage construction and real estate development projects: organize building construction processes, to manage the construction project or its part, to select rational building construction technologies, to manage building maintenance processes, to rationally use building materials and energy resources, reduce labour costs, perform a quality assessment of construction works, analyse documentation of buildings' design and construction, apply modern technologies to solve the complex problems of construction projects' and facilities' management, to analyse, plan and manage real estate development, finance and investments, estimate the strategic prospects of the company and business, to plan, organize, control and evaluate individual and team work, manage it, effectively communicate with colleagues and project participants, to share and argue ideas and decisions.
Learning outcomes:
Knowledge
Knows and understands the fundamentals of nature, humanities, social sciences and mathematics necessary for the practical activities and worldview of civil engineering specialist.
Has consistent knowledge of construction materials and structures, innovative methods of buildings' and structures' design and construction.
Knows the wider multidisciplinary engineering context, has interdisciplinary knowledge of construction and real estate management.
Research skills
Is able to search literature, find professional and scientific information in databases and other sources of information for solving construction and real estate management problems.
Is able to plan and perform the necessary experiments and researches, apply laboratory equipment, devices and advanced information technologies used in the field of civil engineering studies, process and evaluate received data and provide conclusions.
Engineering analysis
Is able to analyse the documentation of buildings' design and construction, choose the right analytical and modelling methods, experimental and production equipment to compare, evaluate and select reliable technological and management solutions, find the correct problem-solving strategy.
Engineering design
Is able to apply interdisciplinary knowledge and understanding to prepare and implement construction and real estate development projects in accordance with the specified legal requirements and principles of sustainable development.
Understands the design techniques of building structures and has basic application skills.
