Summary of the Profile

General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
To train formation systems specialists capable of analyzing information needs of companies and organizations, technical characteristics of computer hardware and software, planning, designing, programming, installation and maintenance of information systems, apply cloud computing, virtualization and Web service management technologies in company activities in order to ensure their effective operation in the company.
Learning outcomes:
1. Gain the general knowledge necessary for understanding the fundamentals of computer science and the business environment and processes of companies.
2. Know and apply the regularities and laws of mathematical and computer sciences necessary for understanding the fundamentals of the computer engineering study field.
3. Describe and explain the basic concepts, facts related to operation of computers and smart devices, classification of computer systems, architecture, and application solutions of information technology.
4. Know and apply common principles of information and operating systems, computer network management, cloud computing and virtualization.
5. Know and apply normative legal acts regulating the activities of information systems, including data protection, intellectual property rights, labour safety issues.
6. Will be able to find, process and analyze the necessary professional information using databases and other sources of information.
7. Apply various research methods when solving information system problems, process research results, present practical conclusions of these results, substantiating decisions of modernization of information systems of companies and organizations.
8. Taking into account the technical and functional capabilities and the needs of companies, analyse modern information technology and systems, evaluate their characteristics, prepare a technical specification of the information system, and substantiate it economically.
9. Will be able to configure and administer Web services of information systems, design and program computer games, dynamic websites, portals apps for smart devices
10. Program, design and develop information systems that implement user interfaces, operation logic and database components, using system design and modelling methods and tools.
11. Will be able to install, coordinate, maintain information systems, their technical and system software, administer databases, apply data and information technology infrastructure security measures.
12. Will be able to plan and manage projects of information systems development, implementation and administration, using different project management methodologies and different ways of organizing team work.
13. Work in a team, communicate with colleagues and potential clients of software in solving professional tasks, present problems and solutions in the field of computer science both in writing and orally in the correct Lithuanian language and at least one of foreign languages. 14. Study independently in the field of professional activity, understand moral responsibility for the impact of the activities and their results on society, maintain the values of the company, ensuring both personal and corporate image.

Access to further study:
Graduates will be able to pursue the transfer of study results if they wish to study in university first cycle study programs. Having successfully completed additional studies or fulfilling other requirements established by the higher education institution, they will have the right to enter the postgraduate studies of the second cycle.
