Summary of the Profile

General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
The goal of the study programme is to prepare a specialist, who is able to create media platforms, computer games, attractive online information systems; who has professional programming skills, the knowledge of principals of human-computer interaction, computer audio and video processing, who would have the basics of creative visual thinking. Such specialist can work as a programmer or as a developer-designer at any company, which creates computer games, develops and (or) uses media technologies either on his/her own or by establishing his/her company as well as being a part of an IT team in any IT company.
Learning outcomes:
Having finished Media and Computer Games study programme, graduates will have acquired the skills of problem solving, interactive media systems, computer game creation, will understand business processes and their management, project management, business communication and in one‘s practical activities will be able to:
• to apply information technologies to practical tasks.;
• to understand the creation and protection rules of data structures and to develop new data structures.
• to analyze and develop information processing algorithms;
• to develop, test, and combine programs by using structured and object-oriented programming principles
• to develop and use databases;
• to create interactive web sites or their interactive elements;
• to apply computer graphics and information visualization principles for an effective development of media systems;
• to use audio and video processing technology;
• to combine 2D and 3D graphics and animation technologies for the development of multimedia systems;
• to program interactive games by using the existing tools and libraries;
• to create, modify and adapt 3D models and other components of a computer game, to apply animation to game models’ and characters' movements.
Activities of teaching and learning:
Vilnius Business College creates a distinctive learning and teaching environment and implements innovative teaching methods. The recently-implemented Project-based teaching method aims to develop students’ skills such as leadership, entrepreneurship, team-work, time planning and finance management, etc.
A great deal of learning activities will be organized using College virtual learning environment, new ICT technologies, and social media. Students will have lectures and seminars in psychology, team-work, effective work and study methods as well as time planning conducted by professional lecturers and experienced practitioners. Students will get acquainted with the study process, College values, opportunities for international studies and internships.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
To evaluate achievement of learning outcomes proportional criterion-cumulative assessment (cumulative assessment) system is applied which is defined in Study Regulations. This document as all the others documents related to the study process is published on College website http://kolegija.lt/lt//studijos/studiju-dokumentai/86.
Evaluation criteria are selected according to the study programme and subject learning outcomes and peculiarities of the subject. Cumulative grade structure is given in each module description and will be presented to students during the first lecture.
Students’ achievement assessment methods such as test, exam, project work will enable students to understand their weaknesses and strengths, and will help to evaluate their achievement level.

Study subjects (modules), practical training:
General study subjects – 15 credits.
Study field subjects – no less then 135 credits.
Internships – 30 credits
Final thesis (project) – 9 credits
Free-elective subjects – no less then 9 credits.

To deepen and strengthen their knowledge and skills in IT applications, entrepreneurship, students have an opportunty to choose subjects from all the study programmes organized by the College. Students have a wide choice of second foreign languages: German, French, Spanish, Swedish, Chinese, Russian.

Distinctive features of a study programme:
Of all the study programmes of information and communication technologies specialists of computer programming remain in highest demand, whereas computer game industry on a global scale already exceeds film industry. Developing computer games is innovative and promising from the technological and creative perspective. It has to provide career opportunities for the graduates of VBC „Media and Computer Games“ study programme.

Access to professional activity:
The initial practical training, an instructive practice of 3D computer graphics and modelling will be carried out at the College. In the second year of studies practice is carried out in a business enterprise, practical assignments and practice venue will be agreed upon among a student, an enterprise and a practical training supervisor. In the third year the final practice, whose aim is to enhance and develop the professional skills gained, will be carried out in an enterprise; during this practical training data pertaining to the object of the final thesis / project will also be collected, and practical training will be directly related to the topic analyzed by the student.
Access to further study:
Graduates of Media and Computer Games study programme will be able to apply for further Master studies in Informatics study field at universities in Lithuania and abroad.
