General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
To train a professional bachelor in investment and insurance who is able to analyse and evaluate business information, to advise private and business customers on investment and insurance issues, to manage insurance and investment products in the sales process, assessing customer needs, expectations, investment risk tolerance and financial capabilities.
Learning outcomes:
• To work in a team, exchange information and responsible make common solutions.
• To plan individually and organize the time and activities in a rapidly changing environment by taking responsibility for the entrusted task.
• To select and apply learning strategies and techniques.
• To prove one’s views in professional discussions by conveying professional knowledge in Lithuanian and foreign language.
• To focus on the basis of professional ethics and citizenship by following the opportunities and tolerance in a multicultural environment
• To analyse the business development of the market trends, to evaluate the impact of globalization on the national market by using innovative methods and technologies.
• To set the demand of the material, human and financial resources, to manage and evaluate the effectiveness of their use by taking into account the country's economic development.
• To apply financial markets participants performance regulating national and international legislation.
• To know the Insurance system structure, mission and function in the economics
• To identify insurance risks, to analyse and evaluate the insurance products characteristics by highlighting their advantages and disadvantages in a changing demographic and economic environment.
• To create and administer the insurance agreements and claims of insurance, according to the Lithuanian legislative system and international agreements.
• To know the process of investment, the business functions of financial markets and responsibilities of the participants.
• To form investment portfolios applying the investment portfolio theory principles.
• To identify and analyse the various investment instruments and investment portfolio risks with anticipated income during the different financial and economic cycles.
• To apply sales techniques in traditional and e - selling process with the help of modern advisory tools.
• To identify customer needs and expectations, tolerance of the investment risk and financial capabilities by developing and delivering insurance and investment offers.
• To solve conflicts with clients in complex and unpredictable situations in accordance to professional ethics.
• To collect and use rationally business information by communicating with internal and external stakeholders about the company’s performance
• To analyse and evaluate the companies’ financial reports and asset classes suitability for investments, to make the right investment decisions.
Activities of teaching and learning:
Lectures, seminars, discussion, group work, case analysis, project work, self-study work, problematic teaching, business simulation, outgoing lectures, and concept maps.
Methods of assessment of learning outcomes:
Cumulative assessment is applied. Cumulative evaluation of components of certain foreseen learning outcomes are assessed in the subject. Different methods of intermediate settlements are available: tests, term papers, projects, reports, case study, creative and analytical tasks. Each subject is completed with exam or project. The learning outcomes achieved by students during the studies is demonstrated by preparing final thesis.

Formation and management of investment portfolio, Insurance enterprise activity modelling and Final professional practice.

The programme is unique among other college studies in Lithuania that educates professionals for rapidly developing insurance market and investment professionals for the banks and investment enterprises. Study subjects are taught by teachers with practical experience, and students get a possibility to perform teaching insurance practice in practical training business firm in Vilniaus kolegija/UAS and investment activities are performed by using a real investment platform.

Graduates of the programme can work in finance service centres, insurance companies and insurance stockbrokers’ enterprises, pension funds management companies, financial intermediary enterprises, investment enterprises, banks or establish and run own business.

Graduates can continue studies in Lithuania and foreign universities in a field of social sciences, business, management, finance and economics study programmes.
