Summary of the Profile

General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
The aim of Fashion Design programme is to prepare a specialist who is able to analyse fashion products (clothing, accessories, etc.) tendencies, design individual apparel and create industrial commercial apparel collections, make clothing patterns by applying software, select and apply the newest sewing technologies.
Learning outcomes:
1. Information management and communication
• To use contemporary information technologies and apply that information in apparel design professional career.
• To cherish general cultural values, and ethical norms, to work in team, to assess critically and self-critically.
2. Ability to perform research
• To assess, investigate the needs of the clothing user.
3. Special skills
• To visualise creative ideas by a variety of artistic means and methods of expression.
• To experiment creatively by applying the research findings.
• To create made-to-measure clothing for an individual customer.
• To make a technical design of commercial collection models.
• To foresee the efficiency and perspective of clothing product manufacturing.
4. Social skills
• To analyse, assess and generalise information, and to present artistic idea for the consumer.
• To develop fashion business following the legal and normative business organization documents.
5. Personal skills
• To select traditional and innovative clothing manufacturing technologies.
• To create and develop personal clothing collection
Activities of teaching and learning:
Are focused on development of general and special competences and creativity education: lectures, professional practice, discussions, individual and group project works, public presentations and defence, information search and systematization and etc.
Methods of assessment of learning outcomes:
Evaluation of learning outcomes is performed applying the cumulative assessment during the entire semester and exam session. Learning outcomes are evaluated through the intermediate settlements: test, project, project public presentation and defence, individual creative tasks, seminars, term papers, practice reports, seminars, exams and final project.

The qualification gives access to work in fashion products (apparel, accessories and etc.) production and service enterprises as a clothing designer, designer-pattern maker, designer-technologist, designer-consultant.
Access to professional activity or further study:
Students can to implement fashion products (clothing, accessories, etc.) collections or individual fashion product projects, to present them to the society, and to develop their own fashion business.
Acquired skills allow opportunities to continue studies at Lithuanian and foreign universities (arts, technological and social sciences study programs directions).
