Summary of the Profile

General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
To educate highly qualified creative and enterprising specialists, ready for professional practice and scientific research at the community, regional, national and international levels; able to apply knowledge, values and skills in practice working individually and in groups with patients of different ages and with various activity disorders, in cooperation with a team of specialists, and committing themselves to human rights and professional ethics.
Learning outcomes:
Graduates from the programme are able
1. To apply theories of various sciences (interdisciplinary and interfiled context) in the practice and researches of a occupational therapist, consolidating and developing the profession.
2. To collect, analyse and critically evaluate information related to the patient/client abilities.
3. To establish occupational diagnosis, based on the analysis and critical interpretation of collected information and examination.
4. To perform occupational therapy programme in the institutions of health care, education, social rehabilitation and in community and critically evaluate the results.
5. To apply appropriate models and methods of occupational therapy to meet occupational and health needs of persons and communities.
6. To work in multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary environments cooperating, creating teamwork atmosphere and taking responsibility
Activities of teaching and learning:
Lectures, seminars, study cases, case analysis, role play, discussions, debats, projects, studing in real life situation.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
Assessment grades are from 1 to 10 points. Teachers evaluate the midterm self-study assignments and test students’ theoretical knowledge by examination, meanwhile practical and transferrable skills and general competencies are tested by presenting and defending individual or group assignments, tests, papers and non-traditional assignments. Up to 50% of the value of the final mark consists of evaluation of mid-term assignments, which form functional and transferable competencies.

Speciality subjects consist 120 credits of the programme;Basics of Occupation Therapy: Theories and models I, Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology; Biomechanics and Dinamics Anatomy; Module I. Basics of Rehabilitation; Module II. Occupational Therapy for patients with Physical Impairments I; Module III. Occupational Therapy for Patients with Physical Impairments II; Innovative OT Technologies; Module V. Age-related Problems in Occupation and OT; Module VI. Psychosocial Occupational Therapy.

Studies in the programme are focused on problem- based methodology, two elective course are international.

Access to professional activity:
Professional qualification of occupational therapist entitles to work in institutions of health care, vocational rehabilitation, institutions for children with disabilities, in educational institutions, social rehabilitation and care homes, care homes, independent living homes, institutions of adaptation of prosthetic, orthopedic products, technical means of rehabilitation.
Access to further study:
Have possibility to go for master studies in Lithuania and abroad.
