Summary of the Profile

General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
To train top-level lawyers capable of exercising the conceptual way of thinking, identifying and solving problems of legal regulation in various fields and of various complexity, applying legal norms and serving the public and private sectors at the national, regional and international levels, in compliance with professional qualification, social responsibility, quality and ethical standards.
Learning outcomes:
1.1. Students have to acquire fundamental legal knowledge, to understand the principles and the institutional system of the public and private law, their relationship, the relationship of law with political, economic and social processes.
1.2. Students must acquire a wide range of theoretical and practical knowledge of the essence and purpose of rights and freedoms, to learn the principles of individual branches of law and the content of their norms, to know the structure and formation of legal institutions.
2.1. Students must be able to apply analytical critical thinking and be able to collect and analyze the information for solving important practical and scientific problems, to interpret and apply legal norms in separate socio-legal issues through the use of global political and legal processes, to have knowledge of economic laws and special research methods in the areas of social and legal relations.
2.2. Students, using the legal terminology, must be able to analyze practical situations of individual fluent and legally reasoned speeches to different audiences, to analyze information about legal and social processes, to raise reasoned hypotheses, to be able to independently carry out scientific research in the field of law, to base their conclusions on logic legal arguments in oral and written form, as well as the ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals and groups.
3.1. Students must be able to apply the norms of law correctly and understand the documents expressing them, by analyzing sources of law and critically assessing different opinions and positions.
3.2. Students must be able to make legal decisions, to understand the contemporary contexts of legal regulation, to effectively apply law knowledge, and to analyze and organize legal processes.
3.3. Students must be able to make decisions by applying specialized (sub-branch) legal norms and to provide complex legal conclusions taking into account the peculiarities of the regulation of legal relations in other fields and their nature.
4.1. Students must be able to communicate in writing and orally effectively and professionally, using innovative technologies, conveying both complete and incomplete information in the Lithuanian and English languages in the field of law.
4.2. While working independently and in a team, students must be able to identify the legal measures and methods of solving a social dispute with the element of legal vulnerability, which would best suit and purposefully change the situation and ensure the effective protection of the rights and legitimate interests of the subject of social relations, and their implementation.
5.1. Students must be able to develop themselves and engage in lifelong learning, make innovative decisions and perform legal research.
5.2. Students must be able to accept innovations, identify legal issues, adapt them and use them in their professional practice.
Activities of teaching and learning:
A variety of learning and teaching methods meeting different students’ styles and needs is applied in study process. In most course delivery process in order to achieve higher knowledge take in a few methods are combined, such as theoretical, engaging, interactive, aiming at case studies type of lecture; practice classes and seminars, when students carry out practical tasks, analyze cases and situations, prepare presentations for separate subjects, participate in discussions, consult colleagues, prepare individual and team projects, discuss references and visual material, etc.; during self-study process students analyze literature, search for information, write academic paper works.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
A consolidated assessment is being applied, composed of progress testing (colloquim, control testing, practice tasks, individual and team work task results and their presentaion, written paper work, etc) and written examination or written and spoken assessment.

The following study subjects are studied in the program: Professional Foreign Language (English), Legal Logic, Legal History, Latin Legal Terminology, Legal Institutions and Professions, Legal Theory, Roman Law, Philosophy of Law, Constitutional Law, Criminal Law (general), Administrative Law, Civil Law (general part), Technology Law and Data Protection, Legal Psychology, Social Research Methods, Administrative Procedure Law, Labor Law, Criminal Law (special part), Civil Law (special part), Coursework, Civil Procedure Law, Criminal Procedure Law, International Public Law, National Security Law, Family and Inheritance Law, Finance and Tax Law, Private International Law, European Union Law, Law of Obligations, Criminology, Civil Service Law, Municipal and Electoral Law, Public Procurement Law, Prevention and Control of Corruption, Forensics, Criminal Reconnaissance, Enforcement Procedure Law, Business Law, Bankruptcy Law, International Human Rights Protection, Coursework 2, Legal Argumentation and Rhetoric, Intellectual Law, Mediation Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution, Forensic Medicine, Staging of Judicial Procedure. During the studies, students have Professional Practice and Legal Work Practice, their total volume is 24 ECTS. Studies are completed with the Final Examination of Law and the Master's Thesis, for which a total of 23 ECTS is awarded.

The graduates of Law study programme can take up employment in law enforcement institutions, different organizations, according to requirements set out in law engange in activities of an advocate, a notary or a bailiff.

Graduates of Law study program can continue their studies in the third cycle studies in the field of social sciences.
