Summary of the Profile

General Description: Objective(s) of a study programme: The aim of the study programme: to educate a general practice nurse who is able to provide quality general care in all level human health care establishments and communities for all age healthy, ill, disabled persons and their tenders, empowering patients for healthy lifestyle skills, applying the science evidence and practice based general nursing care, observing medical ethics, general principles of health care and nursing, having ability to work independently and in a team. Learning outcomes: 1. Independently diagnose, plan, organize and implement care of patients at all level human health care institutions, on the basis of the acquired theoretical and clinical knowledge and skills of general nursing; 2. analyse the quality of care to improve nursing practice by using national and international references, documents regulating activities of the profession, and by carrying out scientific applied research; 3. empower a patient, family, community towards healthy lifestyle skills and independently give advice to, instruct and support patients in need of care and their attachment figures; 4. ensure and assess the quality of nursing actions, procedures of therapeutic interventions and instrumental investigations by using modern technologies of the nursing care; 5. independently initiate life-preserving immediate measures and apply them in acute conditions, crises and disasters; 6. provide nursing services and make professional decisions applying holistic approach in assessment of an individual, observing principles of safety, environment-friendly impact on the surroundings; 7. communicate and collaborate with patients and their tenders, other health care specialists in accordance with the principles of medical ethics and deontology, disseminate professional experience, participate in vocational training of health care personnel.

Activities of teaching and learning: Innovative teaching and learning methods are applied. A self study is student-centered. Lectures, laboratory work, individual assignments, professional literature analysis, seminars, clinical case studies, examinations, final work preparation and defense are conducted. Methods of assessment of learning achievements: The assessment of learning outcomes is part of the study process. Assessment of subject studies is carried out both during the semester and in the examination session. Assessment methods: Quiz (oral, written), test, participation in discussions, preparation and presentation of a case analysis, report on a video situation and its presentation, observation of assignment performance, practical assignment report, individual self-study assignment, project, group presentation, presentation of individual assignments. Subjects of general college studies 15 credits: Professional Language (English, German, French). Latin, Human Safety, Information Technologies, Health Sociology, Basics of Medical Law and Management 2. Study field subjects 165 credits : Microbiology. Hygiene and Dietetics, First Medical Aid, Professional Ethics. Transcultural Communication in Nursing, Basics of Pharmacology, Basics of Nursing training, Applied Research in Nursing Training, Introduction into studies.General Nursing, Anatomy, Physiology, Basics of Pathology, Basics of Psychology, Biophysics and Radiology. Biochemistry, General and Special Therapeutic Nursing, General and Special Surgical Nursing, Children Care and Nursing. Professional Internship 86 credits: Professional Internship of General Nursing, Professional Internship of Surgical Nursing, Professional Internship of Obstetric/Gynecological/Oncology Nursing, Professional Internship of Therapeutic Nursing, Professional Internship of Emergency Care and Intensive Nursing, Professional Internship of Community Nursing, Professional Internship of Geriatric Nursing, Professional Internship of Mental Health Nursing, Professional Internship of Children Nursing, Final Professional Internship. Final Evaluation 10 credits: Final Examination, Bachelor Thesis. 3. Courses of Deeper Studies of the Same Study Field – 27 credits: Clinical Pharmacology, Palliative and Oncological Nursing, Geriatric Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, Emergency Care and Intensive Nursing, Ergonomics and Rehabilitation in Nursing, Obstetric and Gynecological Nursing, Statistical Research Methods. Freely optional subjects-3 credits. The subjects may be selected from KK List.

Specialisations: - Optional courses: Optional courses subjects can be selected from the list in the Moodle system. Distinctive features of a study programme: The studies are organized by integrating different clinical subjects. Pre-clinical practical workshops take place in simulation classrooms, the study of clinical care are organized in the primary level practice centers, secondary level hospitals and all departments of the tertiary level hospital. Students are offered the possibility to go for studies or work experience to the institutions of other countries on Erasmus programme. Research skills are developed by carrying out individual scientific research. Access to professional activity or further study: Access to professional activity: Graduates can find an employment in health care institutions: II and III level hospitals, primary health care institutions, nursing hospitals, rehabilitation institutions, old people houses, children and youth foster houses, offices of general practitioners, addiction centers, and military service. Access to further study: The graduates are entitled to a credit transfer system for entering first cycle university study programmes. After graduating additional first cycle university study programmes graduates are can enter second cycle university study programmes.
