Summary of the Profile

General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
Objective of the Social Work Management study programme is to prepare qualified social work professionals with necessary knowledge, general and professional skills for the professional activities, who are able to provide social assistance to the individual, family, and (or) group of clients to achieve their optimal social functioning in the changing society, with underlying Christian morality in their activities, able to perform the practice-oriented empirical research, constantly evolving.
Learning outcomes:
1. The graduate will know the theories of social work and the fundamentals of other theories of social sciences, social work methods and innovations, infrastructure of social services, project and programme management and will be able to apply the above knowledge in pursuit of the empowerment of individuals and positive changes in the social life of an individual, group, community.
2. The graduate will be able to carry out practice-oriented empirical research in the solution of specific social work problems.
3. The graduate will be able to administer the social services provided to the client, to evaluate the effectiveness of social services provided by the organisation and the quality of services in accordance with national and international legislation and professional ethics and in line with the national social policy.
4. The graduate will be able to prepare and implement preventive and interventional projects in the organizations of social services by applying innovative social assistance methods.
5. The graduate will be able to communicate in a professional environment in Lithuanian and foreign language, communicate and cooperate with a client, representatives of various institutions in rendering social assistance to a client or their group effectively.
6. The graduate will be able to evaluate and improve his/her professional activities critically, to reflect on his/her professional growth with Christian morality underlying his/her activities.
Activities of teaching and learning:
Theoretical lecture, active teaching / learning methods (exercises, group discussion, brainstorming, role play, situation modeling, pair work, group work), research methods (information search, literature analysis, research project preparation, empirical data analysis, report preparation and presentation), case study, self - study, counseling, video analysis and discussion, self - reflection, practice diary, institutional visits and analysis of their activities.

achievements:
The College applies cumulative assessment. The components of the cumulative assessment assess certain study results provided in the study subject programmes. The studies of each subject or module are completed with an exam or an assessment of the student's independent work (project). The final grade consists of the components of the cumulative assessment defined in the subject programme.

Optional courses:
The student is given 10 credits for optional subjects. Students are free to choose two subjects from the list of optional subjects provided by the College. They may also choose to have certain subjects from subjects taught in other study programmes or in other higher education institutions.
Distinctive features of a study
programme:
During 3 full-time or 4 part-time study years, social work specialists are trained to be able not only to organize and provide specific social services to different groups of clients, but also to manage social service organizations. Specialists are trained to be familiar with the development of social services, management of social service institutions, programmes and projects. The aim is for graduates to be able to function effectively in management positions in social service institutions.

Access to professional activity:
The graduates of the College may continue their studies in the second cycle (master's degree) of higher education in Lithuania and abroad, in accordance with the procedure established by the higher school. Students and graduates are also regularly invited to improve their professional qualifications and update their knowledge at conferences, seminars and in-service training courses organized by the Experiencing Training Center at Kolping University of Applied Sciences.
Access to further study:
Graduates can continue their studies in the second cycle of studies, according to the procedures of the higher education institution.
Upon completion, graduates will be able to work in social work institutions, social enterprises, other companies and organizations, where social worker position is foreseen, etc.
