Summary of the Profile

Objective(s) of a study programme:
To prepare psychology professionals, who have profound knowldege of health, health disorders, health care system functioning and are able to work in multidisciplinary teams, scientifically base and effectively apply methods, appropriate for specific health psychology areas, evaluate effectivenes of own activities and independently learn.
Learning outcomes:
Upon completion of the program graduates:
1. Will have psychology and biomedical sciences knowledge necessary for health psychology professional, and will be able to apply them interpreting psychology-related health and health impairment issues.
2.Will be able to plan and carry out scientific research in the field of psychology, choosing an appropriate sample, the type of study and methods
3. Will be able to analyze and evaluate research data using appropriate quantitative or qualitative analysis methods and present their results
4. Will be able to identify customer needs and develop a psychological intervention plan, specific to individual spheres of health psycology
5. Will be able to perform psychological evaluation, selecting methods appropriate for specific health psychology area and evaluation circumstances, interpret results and prepare conclusions
6. Will be able to perform professional situation appropriate and scientifically based intervention
7. Will be able to assess efficiency of own activities
8. Will have ability to communicate effectively with clients, present results of their activities or research to public and scientific society, work in an interdisciplinary team
9. Will have knowledge of and ability to apply in work settings relevant legal acts, governing activities of psychologist and health care system, effectively organize their career
10. Will be able to find and critically evaluate information, independently develop their knowledge and skills
Activities of teaching and learning:
1) student-oriented activities – seminar, interactive lecture, case analysis, practice diary,
2) teacher work activities – lecture, consultation,
3) teacher supervising and moderating activites – seminar, discussion, interactive lecture,
4) independent work of student – learning of the terminology, information search,
5) activities towards problem solving – discussion, analysis of video material,
6) task-based activities – case analysis, text analysis, information search, document analysis,
7) research-based activities – analysis of scientific literature, research planning and conduct,
8) learning at workplace – practice, observation, practice diary,
9) group-work-based activities – group work, discussion, social experiment, situation modelling.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
Oral examination, written examination, testing, preparation of individual and group tasks, case analysis, essay, presentation for group, practice diary, response letter of practice supervisor, preparation and defence of course work and diploma work.
Framework:
Study subjects (modules), practical training:
whole programme – 120 ECTS, including:
specific subjects of psychology – 86 ECTS: Behaviour and health, Stress and health, Health impairments and their psychological aspects, Specializations in Health psychology areas, Scientific research in Health psychology, Psychological consultation and assessment, Psychology in health care system and effective carrier management, Graduation work.
Professional practice 30 ECTS
Free elective courses 4 ECTS
