Summary of the Profile

Objective(s) of a study programme:
Prepare recreation specialists of higher education able to develop recreation activities independently, apply and improve traditional and non-traditional agricultural technologies, cherish ethnic crafts and national traditions, model the perspective of agricultural activities, foster communication and cooperation of agricultural and forestry subjects under market economy conditions.
Learning outcomes:
Professional bachelors will be able to investigate recreational resources, elaborate plans, ecologically and aesthetically arrange dwelling surroundings,  investigate recreational needs of vacationers and organize recreation activities, provide qualitative hospitality and recreation services, apply technologies of non-traditional crafts and ecological farming, rationally use grown products, organize production and marketing of secondary forest goods.
Activities of teaching and learning:
Main activities of  recreation technologist:
-          planning and arrangement of recreational environment;
-          provision of recreational services;
-          organization of recreational activities.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
Professional bachelor‘s qualification is awarded to graduates who have completed the study programme and passed state exam covering all the fields of activities.

Rural tourism:
-         horticulture and gardening;
-         ecological cattle and poultry  breeding;
-      medicinal plants;
-        world cuisine ;
Nature tourism:
-          geoinformational systems;
-          historical and cultural heritage;
-          natural and recreational resources;
-          managemant of nature tourism.
 
Students‘ choice:
Students most often choose rural tourism specialization.
Distinctive features of a study programme:
In Lithuania there are about 0.5 mill. ha of land of uncertain destination. Taking into account the statements of EU agricultural policy, it can be concluded that some part of the land in the future may be used on a wider scale for the production of  ecological products and for recreational needs. The elaborated study programs provide perfect possibilities for college students to be employed according to the chosen speciality or specialization.
