Summary of the Profile

General description:
Aim(s) of the study programme:
To prepare specialists that are able to design and create interactive elements of media, applying knowledge of digital sound and video, information visualization, animation, design and programming, to cooperate in projects of creating media products, to think creatively and critically, to adapt to ever evolving and fast changing technologies and market conditions.
Study outcomes:
Specialists of IM study programme will acquire skills of problem solving, creating interactive elements of media, will understand busines processes and their management, project management, subject communication and will be able to practically apply the following things:
• apply information (computer, mobile, NFC, etc.) technologies in solving practical tasks,
• apply basic principles of programming when creating interactive products of media,
• create and integrate media products for various information media,
• work in a team by developing projects of creative and interactive media from the idea initiation till product implementation and quality self-assessment,
• communicate in writing and speaking on various subject issues of information and communication technologies in state and foreign languages,
• create new business subjects, develop present activities, manage them by adapting to market changes, observe ethical norms,
• think creatively and critically, adapt to ever evolving and fast changing information and communication technologies as well as market conditions,
• organize and plan activities, work independently and in a team, understand responsibility for the decisions made.
Activities of teaching and learning:
Vilnius Business College creates an exceptional learning environment, implements innovative methods of teaching and learning. Project-based learning aims to educate such skills as leadership, entrepreneurship, teamwork, planning, finance management, etc. A part of educational activities will be implemented by using virtual learning environment, new ICT technologies. Students will have lectures of psichology, teamwork, effective work organization methods as well as time management, given by professional teachers and consultants. They will get acquainted with the study process, College values, possibilities of international exchange and practice programmes.
Methods of assessment of study achievements:
In order to assess study achievements, a proportional criterion-based cumulative assessment system is applied (cumulative assessment) defined in the Regulations of studies, which together with other study documents related to study processes is publicly available at http://kolegija.lt/lt//studijos/studiju-dokumentai/86. Assessment is based on a ten-grade scale provided in the procedure of VBC study outcomes assessment. Criteria of assessment is selected according to the outcomes of the study programme and subject and intended learning outcomes. The structure of cumulative grade is provided in the descriptor of each subject and will be presented to students during the first lecture. Methods of assessing students‘ achievements like test, examination, project work will encourage students to understand their strengths and weaknesses, to evaluate their own level of achievement.

Study field subjects – no less than 135 credits.

In order to deepen the knowledge connected with IT application, entrepreneurship development, students will have possibilities to choose free elective subjects from the study programmes offered in the College.
Distinctive features of the study programme:
Students are offered only a few (3) study programmes of this type, belonging to the study field of information of information engineering with emphasis on designing multimedia products, integration and management. In the programme prepared by Vilnius Business College „Interactive Media“ more attention is given not to designing multimedia products but to creation of various media elements and integration to various information media by using the knowledge of digital image and sound, information visualization, animation, design and programming. This programme belongs to the study field of Informatics.
Professional activities and further study:
Professional activities:
The first internship, teaching internship of Computer graphics and modelling takes place in the College. The second year internship takes place in a business company, practical assignments and location will be aligned with a student, company and internship superviser. The final internship in the third year, whose aim is to enhance and develop professional skills gained in the specific business environment, will be carried out in a company or in the College; during this internship data about the object of the final thesis / project and practice will be collected and will have a direct relationship to the topic analyzed by a student in the final thesis.
Further study:
Graduates of the study programme will be able to continue studies in bridging and MA study programmes of Informatics study field, in Lithuanian and foreign universities.
