General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
The photography study programme aims to develop the humanistic orientation, aesthetic perception, critical and creative thinking, civic activity, freedom of communication and responsibility of the individual; to develop the professional skills of a photography specialist based on traditional, alternative and digital photography and the innovations of professional activity in the various fields of application of the art of photography; and to develop the abilities necessary for the organisation of a photographer's action in response to changes in the environment and the awareness of the importance of lifelong learning.
Learning outcomes:
1. Knows the philosophical, psychological aspects of the history of photography, cinema/video art, art, architecture, and visual expression that are necessary for aesthetic perception while seeking functional harmony in personal creative activities.
2. Knows how to apply alternative processes used in traditional photography.
3. Knows traditional and digital techniques of editing photographs.
4. Able to apply different techniques of printing photographs.
5. Perceives the processes of video production (preproduction, production and postproduction) and is able to manage them.
6. Able to photograph a reportage following the mass media laws and ethics/ Able to photograph fashion choosing an appropriate personal behaviour strategy/ Able to photograph architecture, three-dimensional art objects and reproduce two-dimensional works of art.
7. Able to analyse and determine the need of photography in the field of activity.
8. Able to reasonably design a creative strategy in the chosen field of professional performance.
9. Able to analyse, assess, interpret style, aesthetics, creative objects, and has an individual artistic approach.
10. Able to choose and manage traditional and digital photography technique considering the situation and demand.
11. Perceives management principles, system, legal regulations on work environment, able to expand personal creative performance.
12. Able to communicate in a correct foreign and Lithuanian language expressing personal ideas in written and orally and visualise the outcomes of personal performance by compiling a Portfolio.
13. Able to work independently and in a team dealing with the issues of professional activities and fostering lifelong learning values.
Activities of teaching and learning:
Lectures, presentations, discussions, seminars, demonstrations, practical assignments, group work, literature study, project preparation, etc.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
Learning achieve¬ments are assessed using accumulative assessment system. Knowledge and skills are assessed by ten grades scale. The final score may consist of several components, collected in the study process (interim reports, self-study papers, examination or project). Study subject teacher determines accumulative assessment of the subject components and their values of the coefficients depending on the complexity of the subject. Study subject teacher determines and informs the students at the beginning of the term about the impact (percent) of each component (task, work) for final assessment and formulates assessment criteria for each intermediate assignment.

Volume of general subjects of collegial studies consists of 15 credits: Foreign Language 1 (English) Level B2 / Foreign Language 1 (English) Level C1, Philosophy, Applied Computer Software, Oral and Written Communication.
Volume of subjects of the basic study field consists of 156 credits:
Photography History, Basics of Photography 1, Creative Project in Photography, Creative Writing, Drawing 1, Basics of Composition, Basics of Architecture Photography, Creativity Development Project 1, Basics of Using Photographic Equipment, Alternative Processes in Photography, Drawing 2, Basics of Photography 2, Theory and Practice of Photojournalism, Visual Communication, Painting, History of Cinema and Video Art, General History of Art and Architecture, Commercial Photography, Creativity Development Project 2, Philosophy of Aesthetics and Art, Management of Artistic Projects, Project in Photography, Art Research, History of Lithuanian Art and Architecture, Communication Psychology, Reproduction of Two Dimensional Artworks and Photography of Three Dimensional Artworks, Preparation of Achievement Portfolio, Human Safety, volume of professional practices consists of 30 credits (Creative Photography Internship 1, Creative Photography Internship 2, Theory and Internship of Video Production, Creative Photography Internship 3,
Final Internship) and the Professional Bachelor Thesis of 9 credits.

Optional courses:
Volume of optional courses consists of 9 credits for free elective study subjects. One can deepen the knowledge in a chosen field of studies by selecting specialized subjects of the study field and choose subjects from the general list of free elective study subjects suggested in the college Study Management System (STS). Photography study programme offers the following free elective study subjects for the students of other study programmes of Kaunas University of Applied Sciences: Business Planning and Organization / Planning and Organization of a Service Company, Basics of Law and Ethics in Media / Business Law, Basics of Marketing / Career Planning.
Distinctive features of a study programme:
The Photography study programme is promising and innovative, integrating the photographer's technical activities. After acquiring the basics of photography, students will have the opportunity to choose one of three specialisations presented in the programme: "Reportage photography", "Fashion photography", "Photography of pieces of architecture as well as three-dimensional works of art and reproduction of works of art".

Access to professional activity:
After completing the Photography study programme, a graduate will be able to work independently and in a team in newspapers, magazines, fashion and commercial agencies, TV studios, museums, and photography services companies to establish a photography business and develop a creative activity.
Access to further study:
After completion of this study programme, further studies can be continued in any Lithuanian or European higher education institution with academic credits transfer.
