Summary of the Profile of study programme

General Description: Objective(s) of a study programme: Objective of the study programme is to prepare professional Bachelors of Technological Sciences having knowledge in graphic and digital media product development and production, able to develop and realise qualitative and competitive digital and physical products, and implement graphic and digital media projects, select and appropriately apply materials, equipment and tools, analytical and simulation methods for media product development and optimization of technological processes; able to understand and assess impact of technological processes of the graphic and digital product development on society and commercial environment.

Learning outcomes: Study programme graduates:
1. Graduates will have basic knowledge on general, natural sciences, mathematics required for professional activity and be able to apply it for development and production of graphic and digital media products.
2. Graduates will have basic knowledge on graphic and digital product development and production technologies and master specialty terminology.
3. Graduates will be able to apply knowledge and comprehension on development and production of the graphic and digital media products to solve technological problems.
4. Graduates will be able to apply knowledge and comprehension on development and production processes of the graphic and digital media products to analyze and optimize technological processes.
5. Graduates will be able to collect, analyze and organize scientific and specialty information, and properly use it for carrying out experiments.
6. Graduates will be able to apply research results of development and creation of the graphic and digital media products to solve technological problems, optimize processes and create innovations.
7. Graduates will design development and production processes of the graphic and digital media products.
8. Graduates will plan, organize and carry out production of the graphic and digital media products, selecting optimal technologies, materials and equipment; will manage the production process and assess quality and safety of the product.
9. Graduates will communicate and cooperate with social partners, graphic and digital product creators, manufacturers and customers in the national and the international environment; will assess the needs of users.
10. Graduates will comprehend basic technological aspects of graphic and digital media project management and business; will responsibly assess ethical, commercial, legal and environmental impact of the graphic and digital media project.
11. Graduates will successfully work in a team of graphic and digital media creators and/or producers or individually, using modern ICT.
12. Graduates will develop occupational, personal and creative skills, constantly seek for productivity and innovation in graphic and digital product development and production processes.

Activities of teaching and learning: Lectures, seminars, practical assignments, laboratory work, individual/group work, presentation, discussions, practice, course projects, graduation project, self-study.

Methods of assessment of learning achievements: Cumulative assessment system is applied to assess student’s learning outcomes. Grading system based on a ten-point scale is used to evaluate student’s knowledge and skills. Cumulative assessment system comprises intermediate achievements, self-study/individual work and examination or project. Cumulative assessment system is subject to change regarding to the study subject. Assessment order, system and criteria are based on principles of validity, credibility, clarity, usefulness and impartiality.

Framework: Study subjects (modules), practical training: Subjects of the basic study field; Practices:
General study subjects – 15 ECTS credit (Specialty Language, Foreign language, Philosophy).
Main study field subjects – 135 ECTS: Mathematics, Physics, Information Technologies, Graphic Design, Chemistry, Computer Graphics,, Media market and technologies, Technologies of Graphic Media, Printing Materials, Technologies of Digital Media, Basics of Journalism, Media Business Development and Management, Electronic Publishing, Human Safety, Basics of Law.
Courses of deeper studies of the same study field – 21 ECTS (Media Product Development 1 – 9 ECTS, Media Production – 9 ECTS, Digital Media Publication – 3 ECTS).
Practice:
1. Introductory practice (6 ECTS)
2. Practice: Media Product Development (6 ECTS)
3. Placement (9 ECTS)
4. Final practice (9 ECTS).
Professional Bachelor Thesis (12 ECTS).

Optional courses: Elective course units 9 ECTS credits. Students may choose subjects from Graphic and Digital Media study programme or other study programmes. Graphic and Digital Media study programme offers 6 study subjects, each of them comprising ECTS credits.

Distinctive features of a study programme: Graphic and Digital Media study programme is unique in the college sector in Lithuania.

Access to professional activity or further study: Access to professional activity: Graduates work in various Lithuanian and international media business enterprises: design, advertising, graphic and digital media companies, traditional and electronic publishing enterprises, editorial offices of newspapers and magazine, media equipment and printing materials supply and service companies. Some graduates successfully start and develop their own business.

Access to further study: Upon completion of the study programme, the graduates exercise the right to enrol in Master’s degree study programme in other national and foreign higher education institutions.
