Learning outcomes:
1. Fundamental theoretical knowledge which forms agricultural sciences applied basics. Applying this knowledge in farm animal biological and biochemical processes, and animal husbandry smart technologies in scientific cognition.
2. Farm animal nutrition, feed production and integrated agronomy knowledge, based on new fundamental and applied scientific research. Application of this knowledge supplying animals with valuable and safe feed on professional activity.
3. Special knowledge of veterinary medicine, genetics, harmonious and eco-friendly animal husbandry development, based on new fundamental and applied scientific research. Application of this knowledge in animal breeding, health and well-being assurance, reduction of environmental pollution, animal product quality and safety assurance on professional activity.
4. Engineering and technological knowledge, based on new fundamental and applied scientific research. Application of this knowledge in safe using of animal husbandry smart technologies on professional activity.
5. By major farm animal species: biomedical, engineering and technological knowledge, based on new applied scientific research. Integrated application of this knowledge on cattle-farming, pig-farming, sheep-farming, goat-farming, poultry-farming also on other minor animal husbandry branches professional activity.
6.The capacity to collect and analyse data, needed to determine the productivity of farm animals, increase the breed value and solve others animal husbandry professional issues by using new information technologies, databases, scientific research methods and achievements.
7. The capacity to use new methods in determination of farm animals nutritional needs by their physiological needs and productivity parameters, creation a full-fledged feeding rations, planing the feed needs and organizing its production and logistics, selection and management of feeding and feed production technologies.
8. The capacity to organize farm animal breeding, carry out their selection, monitor productivity , increase the breed value.
9. The capacity to select, install and safely control animal husbandry smart processes technologies.

Activities of teaching and learning:
Innovative methods of teaching and learning and visual process of studies are applied in activities. Independent work of a student is oriented towards students. Discussions are proceeded in lectures and seminars in order to avoid monologue speech; laboratory and practical works are reasoned out with group work; the projects are prepared applying case analysis, consequently, problematic and critical contemplation is very important.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
Accumulative assessment is applied. Accumulative mark consists of component parts by which certain subjects in a study programme are assessed. Study in every subject finish sitting an examination. The main criterion is reclamation of cumulative knowledge and interpretation of practice.
Framework:
Study subjects (modules), practical training:
The extent of main study trend in credits consists of 168 credits (with practice):
Introduction to studies, Mathematics and informatics, Bio-organic chemistry, Animal morphology and physiology, Microbiology, Animal nutrition; Basics of agronomy, Animal husbandry technological processes engineering, Animal hygiene and well-being, Animal genetics and breeding; Biostatistics and animal information systems; Basics of scientific research; Animal husbandry technological processes control fundamentals; Feed production, Veterinary fundamentals; Harmonized animal husbandry, Smart cattle-farming, Smart poultry-farming, Smart pig-farming; Sheep-farming and goat-farming, Animal product quality and safety, Professional practices; Thesis.
Specialisations:
-
Optional courses:
9 credits are appointed to students as freely elective subjects. Students can freely choose subjects from the spheres or biomedicine, technologies, social sciences and/or humanities.
Distinctive features of a study programme:
This is only the second studies program in the country, designed to train specialists in animal husbandry. The main difference between this studies program and the one undertaken in Lithuanian University of Health Sciences is interdisciplinary of content and study results. This Studies program integrates not only animal husbandry, but also agronomy and management science knowledge.
